Great review. For the investment and DJ designation, I was expecting a more commanding bass presence than you are describing :frowning2:

@AnakChan- would you go as far as to say that these are the best sounding closed portables available today at any price?

@sneaglebob in comparison to which headphones?

@Craigster75 - lots of assumptions will need to be made such as :-
1) must be closed headphones (i.e. sacrificing soundstage/imaging that say, open headphones will provide)
2) must be isolating headphones (just to rule out the Denons 2000/5000/7000, Fostex TH-900, etc.)
3) covering all genre (i.e. some sonic preferences to be made)
4) no limit on price
5) truly portable (to rule out the likes of Sony's MDR-R10 for example)
[and the list goes on]

Then at least to my ears and my willingness to balance all the requirements and making some compromises - yes either the SigDJ or SigPro would be my preference as the overall outdoor headphone for my portable audio. I listen to quite a wide range of genre from classical, jazz, pop, hip hop, soundtracks, musicals, etc. So I find the M-100s suit some genre more than others, or even the Stax SR-009 also suited for some genre but not others. At home the general purpose headphone would be the Fostex TH-900 but it's not practical and too fragile to take outside - I've broken the cups twice in 4 months (both outside).

So if $$ isn't an issue and I want my best sounding in a portable headphone that will cover any genre I could potentially be listening to, then I'd consider the SigPro or SigDJ actually. Having said that, I actually have IEMs instead for outside use so no plans to purchase the SigDJ or SigPros anytime soon.

Yes, very nice review. Totally agree what you have stated. Really enjoy using the SigDJ paired with my Sony M10 and Stepdance.

@kawee, thank you. I'm tempted to even ask the distributor if I could buy this SigDJ loaner at a decent price if possible.

@AnakChan rmcaudiodirect.com in US deeply discounts (about 30% off) Ultrasone if you call for price.

Just tried Signature Dj at an audio shop. It sounded very good and detailed. However the price was way too high. I think it's really overpriced otherwise a very good pair of headphones.

sorry for late reply, i mean in comparison which ultrasone pro 900, which i heard sound like taping 2 subwoofers to your head.

I am very curious if you could do a more in depth review on how these compare to TH900, sony high end and other high end headphones. mostly because I want to buy a pair, and I am very undecided.

Thanks,
George

I have SigPro in the 20XX serial number range and love them so much I am tempted to get the DJ's as an alternate pair. Bass slam on the SigPro is probably its weakest point although it can be remedied somewhat with EQ. I prefer to use the natural sound of 'phones without EQ so maybe I'll join you in DJ world sometime in the future!
