" This may sound cheesy and contrite but through the Elysium it feels like I’m experiencing much of my music again, for the first time, and accordingly falling in love anew. "
Doesn't sound contrite or cheesy. This is what we WANT from new gear. You get it often when you're starting and then once you hit a certain tier of products it happens less and less. Very pleased to read that you had this treat with these IEMs. Though I'm probably still fine with my PP8s, I'll add these to the demo wish-list
awesome review, well structured and detailed. it took listening to earbuds for me to learn that the midrange contains the magic, and bass and treble enhance this.
@misteral201103 that is indeed the number one thing to look for in gear imho . I hope you get to hear the Ely some day!
@Ace Bee It's hard really to say as I haven't heard the MEST in two weeks and my brain has totally burned in to the Elysium. As a rule if you're primarily interested in massive staging and technical pyrotechnics then the MEST may be a better option for you.
@FlowLikeWater it really does contain the magic. I have been on a slow journey to that realization for the past two years and it all culminated in a catharsis of realization when I spent my first hour with the Ely
@Charlyro222 they are really nothing like the Anole VX, which falls along the neutral/analytic/bright spectrum. VX is a technical/detail/resolution machine and is less concerned with the type of emotional engagement the Ely seems primarily concerned with. The VX is a great IEM for what it is though.
