Best Headphones $500-1000? (Details inside)

I'm looking for closed or open headphones, $500-1000, no noise cancelling or need to charge though. Most of my collection is FLAC format but usually played through my Galaxy S7, Poweramp or Neutron Player. I wouldn't be against getting a portable amp under $50 but if I can avoid it that'd be nice. I mostly listen to stuff like Tame Impala, Glass Animals, Flume, and Wild Nothing, but also a reasonable amount of 00's Pop and some Beatles. Occasionally EDM and generally indie stuff. Looking for something nice and neutral, as I'll make slight Equalizer changes on a per-song basis if needed. Something built well is also appreciated, but I usually use my IEMs on the go.

Currently considering the Sennheiser HD650s.
