I like strong bass, so I'm hoping these put a smile in my ears.

I wish they didn't have the obnoxious huge logo, but at least it's not as bad-looking on the black pair as it is on the yellow, red and teal ones:

I have really been hurting for a good pair of headphones for commuting on noisy NYC subways. These are supposed to have good isolation and excellent sound. I've tried some other on-ears, but the isolation wasn't good enough (e.g. JVC flats, Koss KSC75). I've tried various IEMs, but their sound pales in comparison to even $10 headphones like the JVC Flats. I tried a pair of dj headphones from Superlux but the clamp was like a vise grip on my skull.

REALLY hoping that at last I have a solution to my commuting music-listening needs. I got them for $79 at Amazon.

Great!
Give us a review when it's in.

I am also looking for something alongside my beloved koss porta pro.
I want something closed, bass heavy(fun for media and games) and on ear for better comfort.

I think on ear is the best option for isolation/sweat ratio. Your head have more room to breath and it should isolate well. On the other hand, if it cramps too much, it will hurt like hell.

i should be receiving them at work tomorrow and i'm excited. Will definitely share my first impressions, and then write again after a few days listening with them.

ok, so....I got them.....and I am going to send them back to Amazon for a refund.

Why? Because they just don't sound that great. I did a side-by-side comparison with a coworker's headphones (Ghostek soDrop 2), and the AKG's sounded flat and dull in comparison. It wasn't even close. Three people listened and all three agreed the AKG's sounded significantly inferior.

The Ghostek soDrop 2 headphones are the same price AND have optional Bluetooth functionality.

I decided to do a comparison of the AKG Y50s to the $12 JVC Flats on my desk, and again, the AKG's were inferior. The Flats had more clarity and sparkle and liveliness. It's pretty sad when an $80 pair of headphones sound inferior to a $12 set.

Also, as some reviewers have written, the Y50s do not provide very good isolation, so they won't work well on the noisy sidewalks and subway cars of my daily commute.

So my search for a good portable headphone continues....I might just finally do what I should have done two years ago: buy a pair of Sennheiser HD25-1 ii's.
