Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

Well I dare to say when a HD600 or 650 well driven it outplayed the Denon D9200 on resolution and transparent . I compared them on my gigs Melco N100 -> a USB reclocker -> a DDC -> Weiss 205 -> V550. I still think can improve the HD650 more with better power supply unit and cables. My Hypsos for the music server was sent for repairing and I am thinking about a Plixier 400 elite bac and another linear power supply unit for Weiss 205. Like I said Sennheiser Hd650-600 can reflect your systems that why they are reference headphones so many years.

To me, resolution and transparency are really not d9200's things. Plus it is a closed back, it is really hard to compete with a well driven hd650. Maybe d9200 has some advantages on some genres.

I only use my d9200 when I need a closed back or travelling. I also don't hear much difference on d9200 on different amps.

Thanks Melting735 and LoveKnight. Good to know what these inexpensive ones have in store for me if properly driven. TBH, they have to compete with the beyerdynamic DT1990 which are open-ones, but these will be subject to further investigation with the v550 from hour 301-600 of the burn-in process, because I already own them and know them well since 2017 and RNHP already made them getting better.
I watched a review by wavetheory, which was not meant to be like this, but I interpreted this as an devaluating assessment of the 6x0 because of roll-off in the lows and as far as I remember in the upper treble, too. He used to V281 amongst others.

But V550 does widen the spectrum of realistically possible acquisitions, that's for sure.

Wow. I just had a second hand but very good condition Sennheiser HD800 here and the pair with Vioelectric V550 is fabulous. I will report more after hearing more but I think V550 pairs very well with Sennheiser cans. In addition to Sennheiser HD800. What an upgrade from Sennheiser HD650 to HD800 with better resolution, speed, transparency, details, soundstage. I am using with 6.3mm jack only and thinking to upgrade to higher headphone cable like Brise audio cable from Japan.

I have a V550 coming tomorrow :)

What are your thoughts on the stock power cable? Sufficient or would you recommend an upgrade?

Thanks
I'm sure that after the electricity went through miles of electrical cables and transformers and such, the last 3 feet of the power cord is going to matter?

They will influence. The power cable is essentially a filter that will add a slightly different flavor to the sound.

I cannot speak out fully convinced, but I said to myself: if I spend this much for a good amplifier, spending 15% of the amount on cables (XLR, Power cord, 3.5toRCA) wouldn't be too much, at least for peace of mind. Nevertheless, I think the stock power cable is definitely a good start, but I didn't yet make any efforts or spent time to watch out or search for differences between inexpensive and not so inexpensive cables.

Hello 550 lovers out there 😁

I think about getting a v550 as an upgrade over my Burson Soloist 3XP.

Hopefully the 550 will have no problem driving my headphones and will be a good match with my Expanse and my ZMF.

Does anyone know if there is a successor to the 550 in the making?

Thanks for your help and have a great day
Best
Dominik

You don't have to worry about this.
Vio 550 is even better than Soloist GT.
Vio has good synergy with DCA headphones.

Does anyone know if there is a successor to the 550 in the making?
Vio 550 is a fairly new device. It is unlikely that we will be able to see a successor in the near future. But if you want even more performance, then you should look at Niimbus - https://www.violectric.de/en/products/niimbus

V590² was born out of necessity when the AKM factory burned down.

V550 vs Holo Bliss
I've searched on both thread and both sides have good points.
Does anyone still own both amps and have them together for more than 6months? Which do you prefer? is your answer dependent on song genre, or the rest of the signal chain, or the amp's technicalities?
Anyone's input would be appreciated, thanks

You can't go wrong with any of these amps.
I've had Bliss for almost a year, Vio for more than 3 years.
I like both amps. They play differently, but they both play well.

Main differences:

- Bliss has a slight rounding of high frequencies. Those. Listening to bright headphones does not cause discomfort.
- Bliss is a plug and play device. You don't need to change the gain for the best synergy with your headphones. The amplifier sets gain automatically when adjusting the volume.
- Bliss has a smaller volume reserve. It is recommended to use a DAC that produces high voltage (more than 5 volts);
- Bliss has a display that needs to be turned off to get the best sound quality.

- Vio has a greater dynamic range with the correct gain settings;
- For the best synergy with specific headphones, it is necessary to manually adjust the gain;
- Thanks to dip switches, it is possible to change the sound signature.
- Vio has various protection systems (overheat, DC, overload). They work effectively and prevent damage to equipment and headphones.
- The Vio does not have a display, only LED indicators. They do not affect the sound.

All the headphones that I had to listen to from both amplifiers played a little differently, but in both cases it was good.

About the dip switches. I tried various setting but to my ears and I hear little to no different sound signature with the gain switches. Now I just turn on the gain switches on my Weiss Dac 205 and set my Violectric V550 to default. In fact I think only you are the person who mentioned about changing the headphone signature with Violectric by gain dip swiches on Violectic V550. To enhance or improve the sound signature on my set upI use a Melco S100 switch streams music from a roon server to my player Melco N100 and with some -3db on software configuration I can feel the sound is better with soundstage, details with my Sennheiser HD800.

I also haven't noticed any changes with gain. I guess when people change the gain and adjust the volume they just compare the sound on not perfectly matched loudness and therefore think that the sound is different. Volume matching is essential and I caught myself on that trap multiple times
