I bought these new about five years ago, and they have seen light use since then. These stainless steel bodied IEMs were the mid-grade option from Flare's original lineup of three models (the low end had aluminum bodies and the high end were titanium). They were highly reviewed and are not often seen for sale anymore. All original accessories and packaging are included, as shown in the picture. In great condition, with only the Comply tips showing some age.

This will be the first of several items I will list for sale, as I am trying to downsize my collection by selling off gear I no longer use. Price includes PayPal fees and shipping to US-based addresses. Shipping to other countries will be considered in a case-by-case basis.

These are a bargain - Flare certainly punched above their weight when the made these and favourable comparisons were made with the IE800. I have the aluminium version mentioned (R2A) and would never sell them.

I hadn't planned on selling any of my gear, but am now listing speakers, amps, headphones, DACs, DAPs, vacuum tunes, and electronic parts all over the internet. But, some jarring medical news got me thinking it might be best to unwind my audio holdings that are currently sitting around unused just in case since my wife doesn't have any context for what these audio pieces represent.

I have the Sennheiser IR800S as well as the Flares Pro (also listed for sale), and find that I prefer the IE800S overall, but you're right that the three are actually very similar. Of the three, I'd say the R2S have the least midrange detail and slightly recessed bass, but they are perfectly listenable. And, my complaints about them compared with the other two could very well be because of the old Comply tips that I'm using with the R2S. The bass might improve with newer tips that seal better and the midrange would likely improve by moving to Comply's regular Isolation series without the earwax guard. I made this move, from Isolation Plus with earwax guard to regular Isolation, with the IE800S and find that this exactly fixed the slightly recessed midrange and treble that I noted stuff the stock tips. The Flares Pro also use tips that have no earwax guard, so I expect this explains most of the difference between the R2S and the other two. The Flares Pro and IE800S are very similar to my ears, but I feel the IE800S have slightly more detail all around, which is what my ears prefer.

I found that the Comply Foams tended to muffle the sound in the upper mids. I went to Symbio MandarinEs and the improvement was quite significant. Now I use Sedna Earfit Xelastics. They fit and isolate so well.

I also have the Flare Pros and the Golds.
