Had a Pro iDSD Signature for a couple of years, then listened to an Ares II and then a 12th-1 for a few weeks. Found the iFi cleaner with more detail for certain but more clinical, less palpable, less organic, less detailed. ...ah, I like my Geshelli J2 akm 4499 with Sparkos pro 2590 best...

Got a Sparkos Labs Gemini about 3 weeks ago. Enjoyed trying various tubes. I've stopped listening to my iFi Pro iCan & LTA MZ2. So much quieter, clearer, spacious. Closer to the MZ2 all tube sound, than even the iFi with tubes engaged.

I replaced with WE396a tubes. Indeed warmer, smoother, more golden. 'twas tricky to open.

Here also a Jay Lee Burson Funk, as of a couple of days. Previously had the stock Funk. Back then I put in the Burson Classic op-amps, both into the Funk & a Soloist 3XP. That mellowed the top end considerably. Now listening to the Vivid op-amps & would say it is hotter on top than my other amps...

Regarding the Grado Hemp: Zeos in his youtube review mentions in passing that the Meze 109 "are everything the Grado Hemp...wanted to be." I've the Hemp & like them, but have not heard the Meze.

Thank you msing539 for sharing the same experience. Prior to the Pontus, I had an Denafrips Ares & a Schiit Gumby MB. The Pontus has the warmth of the Ares and the detail of the Gumby, but, to me, the bass weight & strength beyond either.
