FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!
Quote: Yeah, for the price of the mod, I decided to sell the DACPort, buy a DACPort LX and put the saved more toward a better amp section. The UHA6S. I sold the DACPort LX due to packaging, complexity and cost versus benefit but I do miss it. One of the few things I sold that I miss.- Anaxilus

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
Quote: It also depends on which/what SPDIF is going into the DAC. It's not just the DAC side you have to worry about. I've have 4 different optical outs in front of me and they all sound different. YAY digital!!- Anaxilus

FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!
Hear's a simple experiment for people that think FR defines a speakers/headphones/earphones sound. Listen to a set of non crap speakers w/o the grills on. Remember that sound. Now put the grills back on and use whatever EQ you like to make it sound like the grills are off. You can't.- Anaxilus

Headphone CSD waterfall plots
I seriously don't get these newer velour pads. I have found ZERO use for them. Ended up fixing a HFI580 by replacing some Beyer velours that they never came w/ from the factory. Maybe the TMAIAIAIA is a good velour candidate?- Anaxilus

Who still has the Sony SA5000?
I know Vectran was blended into the bio-cellulose of the CD2000 which I owned. It was not a pure vectran or bio cellulose driver and I know Sony has used it different degrees for their driver material in their model lineups in the past. Seems like Vectrn and LCP share simliar chemical...- Anaxilus

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
Quote: What's your budget? For me resolution, imaging and spatiousness are supreme HD800 qualities. Anything in front of them should not get in the way of those aspects and play to those strengths. Hopefully w/o messing up the proper balance and low end capabilities the HD800 is...- Anaxilus

Who still has the Sony SA5000?
First thought I had as well. I don't think it would be that hard to get the 'star' out. Couldn't sound worse at all and am familiar w/ the difference between the 558 and 598 which are more extreme examples. Last I saw the driver specs it was the CD2000 and below which was using Vectran...- Anaxilus

Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!
Quote: I'd take a Q701 over the 1840 any day. Hell, make it two Q701s. Apart from the slightly wonky mids/vocals the 701 is technically better than the 1840 in just about every conceivable way.- Anaxilus

AKG K3003 — Impressions, Reviews & Discussion
I don't think it's always necessary to point to hearing acuity (except for maybe unrecognized major deviations). It's really more about how our ears and brain respond to certain aspects of sound. For example, two people can see the same painting and respond completely different based on what's...- Anaxilus

REVIEW AND COMPARISON: Eddie Current Balancing Act and SUPER 7
Quote: That's correct. Think of the three tubes per channel as one big 6SN7. Each tube change will only effect the output stage to a minimal degree. If the input tube is the engine, think of the output tubes as the intake, headers, exhaust, etc.- Anaxilus

Question about amps for the Stax SR-009
Fuzzy imaging/SS from the HD800 is just the source/amp chain. It can lock in just fine and certainly better than most if not all dynamics.- Anaxilus

Ultimate Ears Personal Reference Monitors: The *Custom* Custom In-Ear Monitor
Quote: Because for $50-$300 you could get a crap ton of garbage sounding phones that deviate >5dB. You don't need a well designed CIEM for that but I'd be willing to take your money if you're willing to spend it. People don't seem to understand how a well placed 1.5dB change...- Anaxilus
