My ZX1 battery is toast. I'm waiting for the WM1A to be available in the US to pair with my PHA3. I'll still keep the ZX1 and probably get the dock that will let me keep it charged while I listen.

Xperia phones have terrible amps in them. I never plug my Z7s into my Xperia Z5.

What do you think of it? My ZX1 battery died, but my Z5C doesn't sound as good in my PHA3?

My PHA3 arrives this week. I've read that you need a powerful charger to charge the battery during use. Recommendations? I was going to use one of my spare iPad chargers, since they are 2.1 amps. Unless there is something better.

My ZX1 battery is back to being flakey again.  Now, it will be at 90% charge and shutdown due to low battery.  Wondering if a factory reset will work.  I think I'm going to get the PHA3 for now using my Xperia phone as a source.  Then probably get a WM1A. Not seeing enough upgrade with the ZX2...

Can the ZX2 put out native DSD to the PHA3, or does it convert it to PCM first?

Yes, I frequently did when flying. After a dozen full charge and drain cycles, the battery seems to be back functioning fine. Got nearly 11 hours of high res music at half volume on a single charge. Good to have my ZX1 back fully functional.

Insufficient volume is definitely the biggest issue straight out of a phone.

I have never tried them from my MacBook as I don't keep music on it.  But, I have found the Z7s to be terrible out of my Xperia Z5 or my iPhone 6S.  I prefer to use my in ear headphones when using either of those sources on the go, which is usually my Z5.

I've been enjoying this setup for a while now.  The Kimber cables only made it better.  Thinking about moving to the PHA3 to see how the Z7s do with a balanced output.
