Decent DAC around $100 or less?
PurpleAngel is right, stick with the Behringer you have for now, and do a little research before you choose which DAC you want to buy! You can do absolutely great for about $100, I loved the older Schiit Modi 2, so I'd strongly recommend the new one based on what I've heard about it!- Durza

Difference in Bluetooth quality from phones?
Adding to/clarifying the previous answer: DAC does matter if you use Bluetooth, just not the phone's on board DAC. The digital signal is sent over Bluetooth, and then converted by the DAC in your Bluetooth device(in this example, a Fiio Q5s). I noticed you said "with the same Bluetooth...- Durza

I've done repairs on a v2+. It's not fun. I hope you know how to solder! You can probably find a new jack on mouser, i was able to find the balanced one a while back.- Durza

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Wait a second, I'm not refusing to acknowledge the issues, I just think that often times the people who aren't satisfied with something speak louder than those who aren't. Honestly it seems like there are serious qc problems, not just in this thread but in some other places people are acting...- Durza

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
I personally think that the quality control issues are being a bit overblown, at least for units that have come defective, that isn't to say that the 1060 will actually hold up for the full 5 years. I personally have had no issues with my pair. I think that those who have had defects are...- Durza

OHIO Meeting?Columbus/Cincy/Cleveland
I'm in the area and I have to say I'm pretty interested. If I stop by I could bring a few mid-fi things and the new monoprice m1060s(lcd-2 killers) that is if i decide to keep them.- Durza

Help choosing a new amp after the little dot 1+
Thanks guys! I actually messed with the eq you recommended for a night. I personally didn't like it... It sounded nice and all, but I didn't enjoy it as much as zero eq no matter which cans I used. Just in case anybody cares: I instead opted to buy some new tubes for the 1+. Some people...- Durza

Help choosing a new amp after the little dot 1+
Sorry, I've honestly never listened to Norah Jones. Just not my style of music. I'm going to assume that Norah Jones needing some chicken soup is a bad thing. Would that be correct? Maybe be a little more specific and use just a tad less imagery lol. I really want some lcd's but they are out...- Durza

Help choosing a new amp after the little dot 1+
I know that, but say if you take a pretty standard headphone like a hd650 and do frequency response tests on a few different amps, there is no reason that wouldn't work to at least give a nice general picture of what is changing frequency wise.- Durza

Help choosing a new amp after the little dot 1+
Thanks for the replies! I hadn't thought about using an eq, I think I'll try that out again, I guess I forgot because last time i tried an eq it made everything sound terrible, like just poor quality. I'm sure that I just chose the wrong software that time. Any recommendations for a good eq? ...- Durza

Help choosing a new amp after the little dot 1+
Hey all, I bought a little dot 1+ a while back and have found that I barely use it. Maybe I'm a defective audiophile, but the differences between it and my solid state schiit magni 2 are simply minor to my ears. I like the subtle changes it provides, but it is honestly not worth using it over my...- Durza

Looking for a good pair of cans to pair with Turntable and OTL tube amp
If you think the 650 is too expensive, the massdrop x sennheiser hd6xx is a 650, but they worked to get the price down to $200 usd.- Durza

So did audioquest do anything about the dragonfly? I feel like audioquest would be able to sue if monoprice really was stealing it. How possible is it that monoprice paid for the rights to use their design? Other possibility: it wasn't audioquest's design in the first place and it was some...- Durza

I don't have any issue with monoprice, they sell nice products and I have no problems with the fact that their products are similar to others, although I don't understand how the monoprice DAC amp is a ripoff since the fiio didn't have a DAC. Taking a design and making it more affordable is fine...- Durza

Great choice! I loved the el8's when I demoed them! My personal next steps might be something in that range. I'm thinking skipping the hd600's and going to the hd700's. Although I first need to wait or the new monoprice planars to come out, they definitely have an audeze look to them!- Durza

I fully agree with Stillhart. He is totally correct, it is simply my opinion that a DAC shouldn't color sound. The fact is that everything colors sound, I'm just trying to say that a 200 dollar set of cans is still a 200 dollar set of cans even if you have multibit, and a 800 dollar schiit amp...- Durza

Need help choosing a 50-100$ iem to pair with Fiio Q1
I have a Q1 and the mee audio m6 pro's are just fine on it. Don't worry about pairing iems with the q1, it will be great with whatever you throw at it. Just try to find the best iem in general for your price range. I would look at massdrop, they often sell some pretty nice looking iems at a...- Durza

DIY USB Headphone DAC / AMP vs Buying complete unit.
I own a Fiio q1 and it is a great dac/amp combo, especially because it is portable and works with my phone via otg. It also has a very tasteful bass boost switch. It also has the best noise floor of my three amps. Maybe because it is battery powered(but can be usb powered)? The fiio k1 is pretty...- Durza

I would consider myself to be a bit of a mid-fier. If you are looking for something new, planars are the way to go in my opinion. I might get slammed for my opinion, but certain things like multi bit dacs and some of that super high-end stuff simply doesn't add up. Your set of dacs and amps are...- Durza

"Open Alpha" T50 3D printed headphone project from MrSpeakers
I own some mk3's and just converted them to open alphas, the headband is still pretty awful. I would encourage buying the mrspeakers comfort strap or making your own. You can buy enough leather to make like 10 of them for less than 5 dollars at hobby lobby. That leather probably isn't as nice or...- Durza
