    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

A day later – Munich HIGH-END show was a highly informative and very often – throughout – sonically thrilling. Yet the greatest ingredient of the whole day wasn’t the headphone amps, the DACs or the headphones – it was the people. My friend Paskel is the reason I went last year (for the first...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

Martin is a thoroughly fun guy - knowledgeable, articulate, highly supportive and extolls everything good about great music listening. I continue to be highly motivated to sing the praises of Warwick - and their Bravura / Sonoma system. Getting the Warwick Sonoma/Bravura system was my biggest...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

This a good move. I‘ve had my Bravura since around November 2023 - and the Bravura is consistently sonically superb. This ‚threshold / sub-bass‘ thing has had zero practical impact on my listening experiences. It‘s legitimate to signal and share warnings that the Bravura is challenged by...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

I’ve had the Bravura (system) since December 2023. I have no experience with the Audeze headphones (so obviously cannot make any meaningful comparison to the LCD5). I do have a couple of set-ups / headphones – for example Violectric V550 + Feliks Euforia + audio-gd Master 19 / I favour (more)...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

I love my experience with the Bravura. I got mine a couple of weeks before Christmas. I’ve already shared my immense satisfaction and enthusiasm for this system - And will continue to do so. I’m not for hiding/concealing any drawbacks or indeed – design flaws. I don’t listen to music at...

My feeling completely- good to hear these positive experiences!

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

As much as potential 'issues' should not be downplayed - this issue should not be up-played either. It's important to differentiate between high-volume distortion and sub-bass distortion (especially at higher volumes). I have a dedicated playlist - 372 tracks / 30 hours of music - a varied...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

I read the comments with interest – because I’m a very enthusiastic owner of a Bravura / Sonoma system. My music listening tastes are quite eclectic. After perhaps a reasonable amount of listening I rarely encountered distortion / moments where the sound troubled me – quit ethe opposite in...

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

I would have to invest a level of time and attention into EQ that I'm not willing to invest - you have established a good tool. It's refreshing to read your own assessment of the 812. I'm personally convinced they are a classic. A true example of brilliance in headphone creation.

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

I'm not an anti-EQ purist :) and if you find an EQ solution for an offending frequency response, the main thing is to hear the music the way it works for you. Do you have a piece of piano music (or two) where the 812 suffered from that peak that irritated you? I'd like to check it out for myself.

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

So far I haven't experienced anything the Bravura/Sonoma can't present exceedingly well - and then some. And still - each piece / artist sounds different. They are doing soundstage gymnastics - for example. I had the V850 but sold that to invest in the V550 - but the RS-06 was partnered up...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

I can appreciate the retail price issue. I could never afford/justify that outlay - I was VERY lucky with the 50% less - it was patience and perseverance and selling some stuff I already had + luck. I live in Germany - so I know what you mean about the customs issue. Fingers crossed I won't...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

I wouldn’t completely disagree about the cable carrying degree of microphonics – though I don’t find I have to still as still as you – I settle down and tend not to move around much when listening to music anyway – I’m more interested in the quality of the music that is carried through the...

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

If someone hears a sound signature that presents the upper end in a fashion too bright for their ears - the 2 main options are either EQ, or find a pair with stock tuning that has the right qualities for their hearing. Personally, I find the presentation of treble (simplistically speaking) very...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

If one is a dedicated audio hobbyist or audiophile - the notion of a ‘plug and play’ music listening solution (no matter how brilliant) may not be where it’s at. There’s no upgrade routes - no introducing a Holo this or that, no chance to by-pass the excellent in-built DAC solution, no chance to...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

So - straight from the 'horse's mouth' (Martin / Warwick Acoustics): 1). The Black BRAVURA HP has a luxury ‘soft touch’ coating rather than standard paint as on the Silver BRAVURA HP. 2). With the Amps the Black Amp is all engraved whereas the Silver Amp is screen printed, engraving is a much...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

I'm still feeling the Bravura Lurve thang - and it's growing - with each listening session - and those tend to stretch on and on. My general thoughts however run in different directions and as this is the closing stage of 2023 - it includes a look back at the headphone experience generally. I...

    Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA

It was back in March this year (2023) I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of ZMF Auteur (original version) – It was a circuitous route that took me to the ZMF Auteur. The elder brother of Bruno – who I bought some tubes from (for my Feliks Audio Echo Mk2) – was selling his Auteur – here in...

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

I have the 872 as well - and these introduce a bit more of the bass frequency - even without the foam disc.

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

They were very well burnt in. There are various things I don’t like about them. But like I said - I’m not saying my experience discounts yours.

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

I have the HD800s - I respectfully disagree. The AKG812 present a superior bass (quantity and quality). Neither HP have any issues with treble / sibilance etc - but this is very subjective.

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

I resist comparisons - and try to avoid ‘raining on other people’s parades’ - but I must say from my experience there is no contest - the AKG812 are in another league of sonic refinement - detail retrieval is better (and the Meze are good). the upper end on the 812 is more extended and again -...
