Been a long time since we had any 300B talk on here. When I first got the amp a few years ago, I promised myself I would get the Taks and leave it at that. Promise broken - but I guess it’s not so bad to have a backup set of tubes? Purchased these Elrog ER300B from a very fine member @tdx on here.

Can you give any impressions how the Elrogs sound and how they compare to the Taks? (-The only thing I heard of the Elrog tubes is that they take an inordinately long time to burn in.)

Very nice but I have no more interest in upgrading 300b tubes.

Hey Great shot. Take a few more pics of that amp please. Your a lucky man to have those elrogs. Ive always wanted to hear them! They are very hard to find now. I have EML 300b mesh and AVVT - I love the AVVT. How do the elrogs compare to your other 300s?

I will later in the week when I've listened more. Immediate thoughts are the level of detail and imaging. These tubes already have a few hours on them as I purchased them used. They are 9 months old.

I only have the Taks. Those 300B are not exactly cheap unfortunately.

I did not know this… It hits me hard, I’m not going to lie.

It’s been a long time since I’ve looked at the forum. I recently moved in with my gf and she is aware that if there is a fire other than her dog, the “Glenn” is to be taken out of the house next. We literally had this conversation a week ago.

I got my GOTL in 2012 before all the options the newer amps have. My case is different too. I admit it has not been used for a while, but Glenn and I had been diagnosing a channel issue. I still need to reflow the solder joints...

Same here, I'm interested how they compare and possibly how the latest WE300 turns out against these.

I was going to leave it until the weekend, but I think I’ve put enough hours on the Elrogs to share my thoughts.

Glenn’s goal for the 300B amp was to make it the most neutral amp he could. And then upgrades such as Dueland caps, Goldpoint 47 steps attenuator, Neotech OCC copper wiring, etc were added to the build.

I put the Taks in again first, and of course everything sounded great. Then I tried the Elrogs. With this amp design, the differences are not drastic. I certainly didn’t think “omg it’s like having a new amp”. But there are slight differences. I have to pick the Elrog as there is a little more “meat on the bone” without losing any of the fabulous detail, soundstage and imaging that the amp has with the Taks.
