I've got a Clip+ for on the go use but I want another player with a much larger capacity.
As it is I am transcoding all my FLAC into V0 and I still have no where near enough room on my Clip+ which was expected.

I'm really liking the idea of a 5.5g iPod either with 80gb or 240gb capacity. It seems to be the best option for a large capacity player with the option of Rockbox and iMod if I get rich.

Can anyone recommend places on the internet to buy at least A class refurbs, ideally with a 80gb+ hard drive already installed, that most importantly posts internationally?
I asked a similar question in a different topic and already have one recommendation, sadly they don't appear to post internationally but I'll see.

So far I've found:
 1. http://www.ipodzens.com/ipz_prductinfo.aspx?prd_id=321 (240gb - $275)
 1. http://www.ipodzens.com/ipz_prductinfo.aspx?prd_id=113 (80gb - $159)
 2. http://www.rapidrepair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=I&Product_Code=1601-refurbished-ipod-video&Category_Code= (240gb - $368)
 3. http://www.rapidrepair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=I&Product_Code=1601-refurbished-ipod-video&Category_Code= (80gb - $209)
 4. http://www.etechparts.com/Refurbished_iPod_Video_80gb_Black_p/822-1261.htm (80gb - $180)
 5. http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=203325110&listingid=86179935 (80gb - $440)

Not sure why they won't ship internationally on their site, but they will if you buy from ebay.

Thank you very much. Shame it costs more than their site not to mention $60 AUD  for shipping. Jesus, talk about a rip off.
I might email them and ask if I could get their websites prices ($20 cheaper) and if they could/would ship it internationally, non express to save me a few dollars.

Bumping with a quote from iPodzens.

"The reason we do not take international orders through our website is because of all the fraud that originates overseas, so before we take an international order we must verify who we are dealing with and make sure that payment is secure. If you wish to buy our 240GB Video, you can do so through Paypal. We can send you an invoice for the iPod and the international shipping. Generally, we use USPS Express Mail International, which will run approximately $32USD. The problem with using “Priority” Mail is that I am not sure we can insure the package for the full value in case there is theft or loss. You also need to understand that we ONLY pay the freight and we are NOT responsible for any taxes, duties, tariffs or fees the destination country may or may not charge. It is up to you to determine what those fees are, if any, and decide if you still wish to place an order. You can order through our eBay store but you are correct in that they are $20 more to cover the transaction fees we must pay to eBay, hence the difference in price. Hope that answers your questions.

Yeah I just noticed the sudden boom in people selling their old 5/5.5g's...
I could settle for an 80gb one but I am really after one with a 240gb HDD already installed. Saves me paying for 2x HDD if that makes sense...

I've dealt with iPod zens, they were good to deal with. Just some things to be aware of, it could be identified as a black iPod with video or a white one when you connect it to iTunes, even if the face is white. It just depends on where they pulled the logic board out of. The back will have no etchings on it, just plain chrome, no apple logo. But other than that, it sounds like a 5/5.5G and works fine. New front face, no scratches, so you will want to put a case on that right away, as the iPod w/Video is notorious for a very soft scratchable acrylic face.

Ok I'm bumping this thread again as I am now on the search for another iPod. The FS section seems empty and eBay hasn't been giving me much recently.
I'm still looking for places to buy a refurbished/new/used iPod 5.5g!

I just bought a 5G 60GB iPod Video for $64, refurbished to what I would consider an 8/10. They replaced the touch wheel with a non-Apple one that is just slightly less responsive, put on a new face plate, and the back cover looks as though it was sanded down and polished to give it a like-new look. Overall, it works great, and I've had no complaints yet. The ebay seller was Cowboom, I'm not sure if they sell 5.5G or not, but just read the ebay ratings at toolhaus and see if there are any glaring problems with whatever seller you choose. Good luck

looking through ebay today I've found quite a few options for 5/5.5g ipod videos that I didn't see a couple of days ago. This is one for example for around 150$ refurbished http://cgi.ebay.com/03-Apple-iPod-Video-Black-80GB-5-5th-Gen-GRADE-MP3-/250620469602?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Other_MP3_Players&hash=item3a5a24e162
There's many more options a lot like this one, many of which will ship internationally.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I'm looking for some refurbished white iPod 5.5G – without too much luck.

The thing is that I want a customized one with an SSD, but so far I've been able to find only 256+ models. That's too much for my needs.

I sent an email asking to iPodZens. The rest of recommendations listed in the first post don't exist anymore – and ebay is not helping neither.

Suggestions?
