Hey everyone,  sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find a thread like this (maybe stupid question?)

But recently (last night D:) the right cup of my Denon d1001 stopped playing music. I really liked these headphones and they have served me very well for the past 3 years. I was wondering whether there was a way I could save them? I am not too sure if I could recable them (no soldering tools... + I have never done anything like that in my life) although it feels like a waste to just throw my headphones away...

If I were to get another pair of headphones... I know the CAL is basically these headphones in another brand... but I was wondering whether anyone could recommend an upgrade which just offers -slightly- more controlled bass or maybe slightly bigger soundstage/instrumental separation?

So...yes... this is my first proper post out of lurking for a long time. Hi everyone :D

Well, I have heard the D2k's and the D1k's and I think the D1k's have too much bass.
And I prefer the D2k's over the D1k's, the bass is just simply better.
I would recommend the D2k's if you can afford it.

Yes, the D2k will be a good option if you want to stay on Denon line.
