Was looking into silver cables and stuff, and was pretty shocked at the price tag of some of them, so i'd like to have a bash at making my own.

£200 for this?

Erm no. Don't think i'll be paying that somehow.

Now, i've been looking into silver wire, and was wondering is it single strand used in headphone cables? or are they braided like copper wire cables?

This is the silver wire i've been looking at... http://www.hificollective.co.uk/components/wire.html

The first one on the page, top left, 0.5mm sheathed, £8+VAT per metre.

This the right sort of thing i should be looking at? and i figure, to make a 2 meter cable, i'll need 8 meters of the stuff.

Next the connectors, i already have spare connectors that came with the HiFiMAN headphones...

Now just need 6.3mm termination. ViaBlue T6 should do the trick.

Thoughts so far? i'm guessing you're all gonna tell me i need braided wire, 9 strands or so.

With that kind of attitude you'll be lucky to get any responses other than this one.

Ohh i didn't mean it to come accross as attitude, i mean you're all gonna probably tell me what i'm already suspecting, that single stranded and it's cheapness is too good to be true and i'll have to fork out more on braided wire

Reading it back, it seems exactly how i meant it, maybe a smiley would of helped

Oh, then I would recommend getting the stranded one as it's more flexible, and break resistant. A few properties that may come in handy for a headphone cable that sees a fair bit of wear and tear ^^.
