That plastic turbine isn't a design element. It's the driver's suspension.

Not a fan of the look, but the reviews suggest these are otherwise a worthwhile set of headphones.I'm not sure why you'd want to remove the grill.
You mean on the outside of the earcups? I thought you meant the grill over the driver itself. As far as the outside goes... You can't see it when they're on your head. Trust me... You'll forget about the look. These sound better than anything I've bought or auditioned in a long time. I really don't know how FiiO managed to nail this so well on the first try.Not a fan of the look, but the reviews suggest these are otherwise a worthwhile set of headphones.
I have a Feliks Audio Euforia OTL, and for OTL amp. topology my understanding is that the ability to drive high impedance dynamic driver headphones is a strength, even irrespective of the amp's. nominal power output. Please correct me if I am mistaken. From the FiiO website, sensitivity is 102 dB/V.
For a 350 ohm headphone, this translates to 97 dB/mW.
mW dB
1 97
2 100
4 103
8 106
16 109
32 112
64 115
128 118
256 121
512 124
So you can see here how much power you need according to the desired maximum sound level.

Nope, sorry. I meant the outside not inside.I thought you were talking about this grill...
The outside structure of the cup seems to be one piece. You might be able to remove the mesh if you can get behind the driver. There's also some damping between the back of the driver and the mesh. I'm sure removing any of that would affect the tuning. These are already tuned well.Nope, sorry. I meant the outside not inside.
DLC coating is propably very thin so it's transparent. Underneath DLC and beryllium it's propably mylar or some other plastic. It does have a grey hue much like graphene and most other carbon like drivers.why the dirver is transparent? DLC dome like that? check out some DLC drivers they ain't transparent, and why there's a hole in the center...?
Those graphs match what I'm hearing. These are really impressive headphones.
This thing basically resolve the problems of the hd6xx serie in a perfect way. I'm in. The real question is: how will it compares with the sundara in technical performances?
My Sundara sample will arrive in a couple of weeks I imagine and I don't want to rely on my memory from a few months ago. But the FT3 isn't the most resolving set owing to the dampening system employed, so it's best treated as a musical unit with very good tonality rather than an analytical set of monitoring headphones.
