Can you connect the FiiO K7 to the m11s via coaxial cable or optical cable. Is this better than using 2 rca ports? Would I get 3.5 mm port cable for the M11S and coaxial or optical cable for the other end of the cable.

It depends on which device you want to do the digital-to-analog conversion (that’s what a DAC does - Digital to Analog Converter).

If you want your M11S to do the conversion, use the Line Out (LO) on the M11S with an analog cable to the RCA inputs on the K7.

If you want the K7 to do the conversion, use a digital cable (USB, coaxial, or optical) to connect the M11S to the K7.

Which is better to do the conversion, the M11s or the K7
They are both about equally good, but they will likely sound a little bit different:

FiiO M11S DAC config: 2 x ESS ES9038Q2M
FiiO K7 DAC config: 2 x AKM AK4493SEQ

Since the DAC chips used in each device are from different companies (USA’s ESS Technology and Japan’s Asahi Kasei Microdevices, respectively), they have different sound signatures.

I suggest buying both types of cable and trying both methods out to see which you prefer.

The orange extra cable in the box is what you use for the M11 to be the “transport” then get a coax digital cable (to make sure it is the correct ohmage) and you’re set… then you can decide for yourself.

Hi everyone, I want to know if you had problems updating the software when Windows recognized the virus? The Fiio K7 looks good, but I read some reviews that they cannot update the software because Windows find a virus, although they downloaded it from the official website. This is especially true for the firmware that turns off the LED.

Hi Laplasdvell,
I did it on Windows 11... and went from having a little Christmas tree with ugly bright lights... to having a elegant amplifier with just one small white light.
I recommend the update and confirm that in my case I did not have any problems with antivirus.
Greetings !!

What AV are you using? I had no problems… I wish I could permanently disable the RGB on my K9 how I could on the K7

You can disable the RGB on the K9 with the FiiO app via Bluetooth.
