FiiO M15S Pocket Desktop-Level Player Discussion & Impressions Thread

Hello,
thank you for your feedback.
But of course the volume levels can be memorized, as the analog setting is converted into digital and the unit sets the volume digitally. That is also what the unit does: Lets say the volume is at 20 before enabling bluetooth. After the connection is established I go to max volume 120. When bluetooth is disconnected again it automatically goes down to 20 again and puts a reminder on the screen to adjust the volume down again. So the system knows the settings.
What bothers is, that I have to manually set it to 120.
Dear friend,

If you are using volume knob for adjusting the volume, the volume of the player need to match the postion of the volume knob mark.
So when using volume knob, the volume will not goes down to 20 when Bluetooth is disconnected. Can this explanation help you to understand the reason better?

Best regards

Hello,
thanks again for the info, but I think you are wrong.

The volume *goes down* when disconnecting from bluetooth, please try it yourself.

It is the same behavior as if you have the volume set at 50 for example, turn the unit off, and then dial the volume knob up to 120. When you switch the unit on, the volume *will stay* at 50 and tell you to dial down the knob again.
It is all digital, and the unit *can* set the volume independently.

Hello,
many thanks for your help and making a video.
I was talking about the Bluetooth connection, and mistakenly gave the example when switching the unit off and on. I think that feature was in the M15, but maybe I messed it up with another unit.

To reproduce the Bluetooth problem:

With Bluetooth off set the volume to 50. Enable a Bluetooth connection to an bluetooth amplifier or speaker. Turn the volume up to 120 (what you have to do to avoid a lower resolution). Switch Bluetooth connection off. Now the volume indication will be back at 50 and play only with volume 50, although the volume knob is still at maximum. The unit tells you to reduce the volume knob. As soon as the volume knob goes below 50 you can adjust the volume again.

The software team should just set the volume to 120 when the bluetooth connection is enabled and keep everything else, like its does when the volume knob is disabled. That way the unit would disregard the volume knob when using Bluetooth. Or to make it even better, implement a new setting "Bluetooth fixed maximum volume" and "Bluetooth variable volume".

Many thanks.

@FiiO would it be possible to add a setting to switch the next/prev/pause/play buttons from the left side to the right side.

I prefer using the buttons on the right side.

And currently I'm using the volume knob so the buttons on the right don't do anything as well.

+++ Please fix the "Play/Pause" button.
Dear friend,

We have reported to the engineer about about that. They will try to fix this problem in next firmware update.

Dear friend,

Thanks for the kind feedback. We will report your suggestion for the software team to assess first.

Has there been a change to the FiiO music app to allow volume adjustment when using an external DAC?

On the plane today I accidently pressed play on the FiiO music app (usually use USB Audio Pro) and expected to be blasted with full volume from the DAC in my Focal Bathys headphones.

To my utter surprise I can now control volume using the M15S volume knob through the USB out to the DAC in my Bathy’s! What’s more is the M15S runs completely cool and seems to run forever on battery - cross country flights pretty much drained it before now the battery indicator barely moves!

Have I unlocked some new feature or did I just not know about this before. Don’t recall being able to previously do this.

It’s obviously not bit perfect but this is awesome. :)

Dear friend,

Yes, and if you would prefer max USB output volume, you could Max.Volume Lock from Settings-USB output in FiiO Music app for help.

Best regards

So was this a recent change to the Fiio music app? Just checking my sanity. :)

Either way, a most excellent change and welcome addition. Thank you!!!

The Ugreen adapter Type-C to Type-C + Type-C cable (CM232) works perfectly in the USB DAC position, with a laptop and PC, in desktop mode..

With the DAP plugged to this adapter (long cable), one cable to the juice, and another cable to a computer, you can activate usb dac and the dap in desktop mode ?
I have my doubts because all thise adapaters have usb-c audio output, not data bidrectionnal. Then plugged to a computer, the computer recognize the DAP to transfer data ?
