i spoke to a Fiio person at the recent HK AV show, and he said that this is not full android, no google play store and cannot install apps. they will have some set streaming apps installed (e.g. spotify), but unknown which ones specifically.
And that's ok I thing. For that price range. Like Pioneer XDP-30R and XDP-02U, Onkyo PD-S10.
I care only about streaming services that will be. For Example, Pioneer XDP-02U has Onkyo Music, Tidal and DEEZER HI FI, not bad I thing. Full Android requires much more resources.

exactly. If i get like apple music and tidal, i won't need any other streamer. I already have a smartphone so what other use will I be doing with a dap in any case? But I really hope fiio includes atleast 2 streaming platforms like apple music, spotify and definitely tidal

Totally agree. In my case, I need Spotify and Tidal (for FLAC).

Shame, that probably means I'm out unless there is built in podcast/audoiobook support and gapless.

Finding this. Great color, interesting if this true.

Three things spontaniously came to my mind while looking at the foto above.

1. Sony A45 (design)
2. AK70 Misty Mint (color)
3. Hidizs AP 60 II (sturdy looking 2.5mm & 3.5mm headphone outputs on the M9 looking like the one on the AP60...only difference is that the inner bezel of the M9 is black colored and the AP60 inner bezel is golden)

Regarding the dual AK4490 and the targeted price of 300 dollar the ibasso DX150 will get strong competition. Provided that the final version of the M9 will be refined and customers ideas and propasals will be taken in account. But the thread already started with an active fiio representative so i guess this will happen.

I personally like having the headphone outputs on top of the device. When im lying on my comfy sofa, the player will lie on my stomach most of the time. When im operating the device i lift the upper side so it faces my eyes and i can see whats going on at the screen. At this special listening position i dont want a headphone-cable/connector sticking out of the lower part of the device finally sitting between my stomach and the player.

(imagine putting the dap upside down)

I hope the volume wheel is not too smooth running. Preferable a bit tighter to handle. Maybe theres a "tactical feedback" and many small volume adjustment steps so the audiophile specialforces are pleased too.

Im really looking forward to experience this player.

Yes, podcast/audiobook should be a standard feature on any mid-fi DAP these days but they all appear to (understandably) be concentrating on wireless and streaming capabilities which is where the entire industry is heading.

As for gapless playback, I absolutely demand it on any DAP costing over $50; If the $45 Benjie T6 can do flawless gapless playback then I won't even consider anything else that can't.

Oh I get it, but as most of my listening is 50 percent music 50 percent audiobooks it really does get annoying that what used to be a standard feature has dropped. I am currently using a hiby r6 with the mort audiobook player. Whilst that combo works it's a)clunky as hell having to switch between apps, and b)a bit on the large side (plus the impedence issue) so that's why I'm still on the look out for a smaller slimmer mp3 player.

There are always feedback about the headphone jack position, not matter it is on top or bottom, so plz understand we just can't satisfy with everyone, and it never become an issues we will consider during our R/D .

Our plan is you can choose one local stream music when you power on M9 first time. cause the Exynos has very limited RAM/ROM so it can't run like other android DAP/smartphone.

can't we do two simultaneously? It has that much limited space?
