A while back I decided to cut off the plugs on my ToneKraft cable and hardwire it to my HD800. There was only 4 thin strands of copper but regardless the sound was detailed and with real heft.
Point being it's to do with the implementation, not the strand count.
Would love to know what it must possibly be like to own these when moving, price-wise, up from owning (and enjoying to a decent degree) Stellia. Close-back D8000 and Verite Closed and open-back Empyrean are the present considerations for 2021 purchase.

Meze 99 upgrade cables work perfectly with the D8000. The thin, longer-sleeved 3.5mm mono cables bypass the locking mechanism. The 2.5mm balanced one is a terrific way to use the D8000 with a balanced amp.
Yeah it does. It's a bit on the cheap feeling side, real thin. But as a way to get a balanced cable cheaply it's ok. Hart Cables confirmed they have jacks to suit now too. So another good budget option.
I actually think the Ether C flow 1.1 is the closest for a closed back alternative.
The ZMF is better in many ways but its totally different in my opinion

i own the d8000 and i am interested in purchasing the d8000 pro model. My hope is for a little more clarity, maybe a slighty cleaner , brighter sound and maybe a slight bit less lower midrange than the d8000. i am hoping for a slightly more forward vocal as well and that leads me to my question. i have seen in several places what appears to be contradicting view points. some say the 8000 pro is more recessed others say it is more forward. is this due to variations from unit to unit or just different people's opinion on what is neutral vs recessed vs forward?
if i could get a concsenous on whether the d8000 pro has more midrange or less than the d8000 I would appeciate it.
