Hi Guys,

Im really tired of my balanced cables, they hold a memory which is really annoying as i always store my IEMS as best as i can which is usually coiled up. I have a pair of new non balanced cables for my 8S's its actually a better material and more pliable... However its not balanced. Are there any aftermarket alternatives that dont cost a fortune?

There is a thread on the 8S where people discussed the cables quite a bit in the earlier days. Best idea is find that thread and search it. There was another brand known for .74 connectors, but I think FLC used a different polarity so its worth checking. I think the earlier official cables had memory but not later cables. Its been a while; I am on the 8D now and even there I am not totally sure about the compatibility. But in both cases 8S and 8D I have been okay with the factory balanced cables so I'm probably not super helpful on this. Forrest Wei (the head cheese for FLC) periodically has shown up on the threads so maybe he can help; but then again I have not seen him post in a while.

You could also try to remove the plastic sheath on the cables but that can go wrong. I have modded some lessor cables for other units; but those were more standard and easier to replace if I messed up.

LMUE (Lend Me Ur Ears) is something of the world specialist in these and you might ask them. In the US MusicTeck is the primary vendor and Andy is really helpful also. If you find a good answer please post in the FLC 8S forum to help others.

The brand had a big following about 4 years ago but seems to have lost some favor lately. A shame because both the 8S and 8D sound great, are comfortable, have great instrument definition and super good imaging.

Haha that's ironic, I bought my 8S from you. I'm loving them, I use them everyday at work basically and with the kz star line tips you don't even feel them in your ears. I'll try and dig up the old forum and yes it is a shame they have fallen off as they are hard to purchase now and they sound awesome. These are pretty much my endgame IEMS... The technicalities and tuning are perfect for my ears, although I find once I found the tuning tips and plugs to my liking that I haven't swapped them out since; Red, Grey and gunmetal I beleive.
