good 2.0 pc speakers

I can't see apt-x mentioned on the speakers

Which one are you getting? Because a number of BT Apt-X equipped speakers have been posted in this thread, which is why I just said "if" you were getting such a speaker.

In any case, if whatever you get doesn't have it, then you'd need a receiver unit, like the one you posted. You can just get that, and if it doesn't work via USB from the PC, just get a dongle that does. It works both ways (transmitter and receiver) so you have an option to use it as a back up for either.

am I missing it all I see is bluetooth

Just went into the manufacturer's product page, you're right, it doesn't have Apt-X. I just got used to practically every newer product using Apt-X, like how HiVi and Edifier (plus nearly every Android) have them.

Still since size is your consideration plus the distance from your PC I'd still just use this over BT than cables. And since Apt-X uses BT protocol anyway you might as well get an Apt-X compatible transmitter to use with it considering the price difference isn't huge. It's backward compatible so it will still work, and in case you change speakers, you already have Apt-X.

should I get speakers with apt-x or just get these, the ruark will fit and have apt-x but are £33 dearer

If they fit then get that, not just for hte Apt-X but also since you were able to find what might be a more reliable review on it vs the iLoud. At this point the things the iLoud has going for it isn't how they claim to have pushed for more bass response (at least for what's par for the driver size) as well as how the finish is more conducive for lugging it around, but since the second doesn't seem to be of any benefit for your use case scenario, then might as well get the Ruark.

thanks that's what I was thinking, so am I correct in thinking all I need is the following

Speakers http://www.superfi.co.uk/p-12117-ruark-audio-mr1-bluetooth-active-speakers.aspx

usb Dongle https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Certified-Cinolink-Adapter-Windows/dp/B012EVAME6/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_11?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=KQ34Q475W2RD7CG882DE&th=1

An mk2 version of the Ruark seems to have just come out. Seems to be better? Maybe it's out of your price range since it's new though. Perhaps Protege has something to say about that.
