More of a monitor presentation? Makes sense. Did you find the 5000 more colored, fun, and musical?

I don't know if that's exactly how I would describe it.
They're quite similar in overall presentation, so I think it's mostly a tonal change.
Obviously these are noisy environment impressions, so there's not much further insight I can offer.

My father in law tried them on my DX260 today and didn't want to stop listening... I threw him some nice audiophile pearls and after that, he went himself into my directory and.......
Indeed a good sign for the AR5000.

Don't you tease me with a good time! But I'd hope they sound better than the 5000 if they cost twice as much. I wonder if it uses a different driver than the open back. I would assume so.

I only listened briefly but I think that they are better enough to justify the price difference. They sound very open.

Sorry for OT here, but it seems that apart from the SR7000 closed backs, there are also two new headphone amps coming, one being their new flagship, the A17 with "active cooling system" (they seem to really have listened to the community), and lots of new Yuki dongles galore!
