Jul 25, 2023 at 11:33 PM Post #481 of 505
Finally received yesterday.

First Impression:
1) Good Build Quality.
2) The blue color is so amazing.
3) Size not so big. With the case still can put inside my pocket, but a bit. heavy and tight.
(the size is around 2 galaxy S23)
4) Hot after playing for around 1 hour but Acceptable.
5) Still warm sound, but more clear and powerful compared to my M3ultra

Satisfied with this portable and powerful machine

Now matching with my 1750CU and 1790TI.

Firmware Update Released

Go to the website for full notes and download link:

https://en.shanling.com/article-FirmUpdateJuly23.html

Note: We recommend downloading the file and proceeding with a Manual update, as OTA update might be too slow.
Still broken replay gain in native app! What is the point to add new features if basic functions don't work properly?
p.s. it is also broken in Eddict Player app.

Hello
Since yesterday I own the shanling m7 and I am amazed by it. It has a really refined tuning. Delicate bass, transparent mids and clear highs. The details are so nicely portrayed. I am still comparing it with my ibasso dx240 with the amp5mod installed. I find the ibasso also an incredible player but it sounds different. It has bigger and a bit boomier bass more analytical grainier mids and bit splashier mids. So overall my impressions are that the ibasso is more vivid and vibrant in its tuning while m7 is more balanced and refined across the frequency range. M7 is more fluid and a step up from the ibasso in resolution. Will also compare it with amp8 mk2 soon. I am impressed by the m7 and it looks gorgeous. Nice job shanling

Does anyone know if the case for the Shanling M6 Ultra will fit the M7?
I just watched a video review of the M6 Ultra, and that player seems to have a nearly identical chassis to the M7. . .

M6 Ultra is bit shorter, bit more narrow, noticeably thinner and the overall shape is quite different.

We recommend to get M7 case for M7.

When I purchased my M7 a few days ago, I also got the 7Hz Legato. Not only are the Legato's aluminium shells a perfect match, their case fits the M7 like a glove!

What is the problem with replay gain?
In shanling native music app (eddict player too) go to Settings ->Gain->(Audio track / Album / off). That toggle does nothing from firmware version 1.33, which have been released almost year ago! It is very annoying problem to volume up/down every single track, if you have huge music library with different gain levels. All replay gain data are calculated and store in every track, and 3-rd party android music players can use it to adjust sound volume, except shanling apps :frowning2:

How would the M7 vs M9 plus look? would it be worth it? They say the m9 plus is more neutral compared to the m8/m9 so I'm thinking it went towards the M7.
This is not exactly correct. Original M9 was the more neutral one, M9 Plus is now again more towards the warmer sound.

I can say the M7 is overall more neutral sounding than all three of M9, M9 Plus and M8.

Hi guys, I'm also joining to the club.
I'm really liking it. It sounds clean and the responsiveness is fast. The bad thing is that I can't figure out how to make my Ibasso dx160 m3u playlist to work on the device...
Anyway, I have played local HiRes files/High gain/Wifi on/Minimum phase Hybrid fast roll-off filter for some continuous hour but I don't find the device unbearably hot at all as some people pointed out, just slightly warm, which is very impressive; It's even colder than my DX160.
I was wondering If they shadow tinkered something with the new blue vesion, since another chinese reviewer also noticed that the new blue version was way less warmer than the first silver version.
