Introducing Shanling SCD1.3 - New SACD player
Feb 22, 2024 at 8:55 AM Post #61 of 71
It is a good question. Some of us have many SACD copies (I don't like the term pirated copies), but this is true. It would be nice that the Shanling SCD1.3 can read these DVD-R discs. If someone can test it and tell us their findings, it would be great help. Thanks.

I do have a huge collection of ISO SACD files that would like to convert to DVD-R Discs (SACD-R).
It's mandatory for me to know if Shanling SCD1.3 can read those discs !

@Shanling
Does the SCD1.3 plays SACD-R Disks - (Disks burned from ISO files onto DVD-R discs) ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Not something we test. Only run original SACD discs.

Wondering how this would sound playing out of the XLRs to my Sony SA-Z1 studio speakers? Anyone have any guess, I'd love to hear. Even simply speculation.

I would guess, sounding nice? :)

Just wanted to share my impressions with SCD 1.3 paired with Line Magnetic LM-845IA: the sound has been quite detailed, clear, with a bit of velvet touch (hard to say if this was SCD dac property or rather result of tube amp or their pairing) but from memory maybe it was not on a level of Hegel Viking (when listening to normal CDs) but pretty close. I wish I could have both players side by side for listening impressions. Overall, considering price this seems like very interesting proposition, especially if one has SACDs collection. One could easily build a complete system around it and be happy. Can't comment on functionality and handling side, the cd motor seems to be quite but overall I spend to little time with SCD 1.3 to share any more thought than just few of my findings. I'm glad I've got a chance to listen to it. Definitively it was time well spend. I need to spend more time with SCD 1.3 eventually.

@jamato8 if you are asking about amp yes it was and it also has been warmed up for about two hours, if you are asking about CD player I can't tell and at the same time I'm probably a wrong person to ask since I do not believe in burn-in process for such electronics. Tube amps are a different story. Also can't tell you how much Hegel Viking I had been listening to had hours of usage, but I guess both CD players were demo version from manufacturers so they were probably being used quite often.

Just got my unit, I didn't realise the bluetooth is only for input only, it will be great if it can also stream the music to Bluetooth.

Also since the unit can connect to the WiFi, why no track infos when playing CD/SACD?

It's limited to receive only.

For track info, SCD1.3 lacks such system that would be providing it. Maybe in the future.
