That case looks like it needs to be searched if I ever get pulled over by the cops again.

Nice, I appreciate the followup. Unfortunately, I've decided to give up on the Tungsten for now. I don't think it's a "reasonably purchasable" product at this time and am probably going to try my luck with a HE1000SE or a DCA Expanse (and neither need a specialty amp like the Tungsten does). I do think I would probably lean toward the V281 in this comparison though.
You can't go wrong with HEKse, it's like 1.7k with hifiman warranty. Just got my last week, I'm very impressed, the detail is amazing, stagging, separation etc. So I have both Tungsten and HEKse. All set. 😎🎧🎧.

Hifiman HE1000 series is amazing.

Hi all, was wondering if someone can verify this - according to ifi Headphone calc the ZEN CAN can easily drive the DS Tungsten, true?

I'm waiting for an XLR to 4.4 connector and I can verify that for you but someone else reported that they drive their Tungsten at work with a Zen CAN so it should be fine for normal listening levels. I plan to make mine "portable" around the house if indeed it works

6.0V/1150 mW (@ 32 Ohm) I’d think you’d have a low listening level getting to 155ohm with low voltage and low power. It may make sound but not very good dynamics. These cans will want around 20v at their impedance.

Many/most amps will drive Tungsten (or Susvara) with some level of success. They will make sound, probably at a reasonable listening level. But if you want THE MOST out of your low sensitivity planar it's going to take a little more effort.

Sort of like if you plug Utopia into an iphone dongle. It will absolutely make sound. It will get LOUD. But it won't sound like $5K. For that, you need to dig a little deeper. Contrary to some objectivist reports, not all wattage/current is created equal.

I could have sworn I saw braided Viking Weave Cables with these and not the twisted version. Not that there's anything wrong with it.
It actually looks a lot like the Double Helix Complement C- a great cable.
