Need Price Check for ATH-L3000 & Grado PS1
Jul 4, 2008 at 5:25 PM Post #2 of 17
from what i search, last year the price was around 2300$ -2500$ + paypal and shipment
I think this year the price will increase a little. I guess it will be around 2500$-2700$ + paypal and shipment.(if you are lucky enough to get one with cheap price. If you want to get one quickly, then i think go for higher price)
Correct me if i am wrong

I'm fully aware of that listing. Thanks for the reminder.
Though, [please don't shoot me for this] I have a suspicion that this guy is Waddragon.
Check this thread out: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f11/to...ml#post4335175

Too much of a coincidence... Look at the item's location: Berkeley, CA. Not that I have anything against the person, but I'm not sure if I should buy it off him. If I had not come across the thread, that L3000 would've been long gone from his hands.

Though I'm still thinking of buying it off him ($3000 is slightly high for that hp no?) :\

Not long ago a PS-1 sold on e-bay for $3360.
The dollar being weak won't help any....

I highly doubt that. The only reason the one on ebay sold for $3650, not $3360, is because it was one of the JAG models straight from John Grado's personal collection and the auction was also for charity.

There was another one listed about two weeks ago with a starting price of $3000 and a buy it now of $3300 and no one purchased them.

The going rate for these two headphones really is $2500. The one's that would like to believe otherwise are their current owners and the foolish buyers with the "have to have it" mentality that ruins the market price for everyone. Just because one specific fluke sale is above the normal market price doesn't mean that that has become the new standard market price.

I'm well aware of #1, but I never saw #2

Was it like a 1 day listing or something?

I bought my original L3000 almost 3 years ago when the dollar was a bit stronger for about $1900. I sold it again before christmas for about $2100 after I bougt afrikane's balanced set for about $2200. All these prices are as far as I remember, I haven't bothered to recheck them. At the moment a good stock sample seems to be about $2500 and up when ever one comes up (not often). And a L3000G will be even more I would guess but have never seen one for sale.

2500-$2600 for L3000 in good condition and with all original paperwork, documentation, box, etc. sounds right. I think the PS-1 is a bit more though.
