Hi! It is pretty much goes back to what kind of sound character you like. I suggest before you spend more on IEM, probably get something decent at around $100 bracket to understand what you like. Otherwise you might spend a lot of money for something that you don't like. We all have different musical preference, it is best to know by yourself what sound signature that you like. For example, if you like clarity, you can try DUNU Titan 1. Or if you like warm and smooth sound signature, you can try Audio-Technica ATH-IM50. Both are a very good IEMs. Check on my signature my review for those models. Once you understand what sound signature you like for your music, you can plan for something better.

Hey, everyone. Just received my DN-1000s. They are definitely the best-sounding iems I've owned, but I'm having trouble with the stock tips. To be fair, I have a lot of trouble with fit in general.

I'm not typically sensitive to sibilance, but whoa, the stock large single-flange tips were downright shrill. I've had the best luck with some tips from my cheap Panasonic ear buds I had lying around.

Has anyone tried the JVC Spiral Dots? I'm in the US, and prefer silicone to the Comply foam jobbies. I can get these on Amazon. I typically prefer large single-flange tips.

Thanks!

I've tried the JVC spiral dots and while they are better than the stock tips, there's still some sibilance. I was a bit annoyed at the sibilance too and the very forward sound signature. After experimenting with all the tips and inserts/spacers, I found that the foam tips with no spacers are best.
Also, after using the IEMs for a few days the sibilance definitely eased up a whole lot. The comply foam is pretty much the same thing as the stock foam tips that come with the IEMs.

Shaggy- Thanks for the reply. I find the red/blue Comply tips to be a tad small, which makes it tough to get a good seal.

Are there no viable silicone options for us in the US?

Try the JVC FXD eartips for DN-1000 as i mentioned in review (different than Spiral Dots), no sibilant at all

So far, haven't found anyone can use the large size since it is very big. Medium and Small are the most common fit.

I've recently been reunited with some monster supertips which I lost after trying out copper pros...

It gives my dn2000 proper textured vocals, smooth mids, well restrained detailed bass, and highs that sound more natural.

Give that a shot.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. The tip I have now keep getting stuck in my ears which is super annoying.

I'll see if the JVCs can be shipped to the US. If not, I'll just buy the spirals and sell these if I don't like the fit/sound.

This is like my Yamaha Eph-100 tip fiasco all over... Which is why I got away from iems for a while.

Anyway, I didn't want to spend $25 to get the JVC tips from an eBay seller from Japan, and Amazon.jp wouldn't ship to me directly, even though the tips cost 450 yen, which is less than $4USD.

So I ordered the Spiral Dots in L from Amazon (US). I'll be surprised if they fit.

I'm jealous of people who have normal-sized ear canals. Lol

Is the only difference in sound between the Comply T-500 and the JVC EP-FX8 tips that the T-500 has less bass?

What about midrange respons vs EP-FX8, and how much does the treble get smoothed out compared to FX8 tips?

I definitely don't like emphasized bass, and I read that the DN-1000 bass with stock tips has basshead quantity, so if the Comply's and the FX8 are the same in the mids and treble, and the only difference is that the Comply's have less bass, that will most likely suit me better.
