Precisely because I have no control over it, it is usually a weird blend of pop country, pop indy, and... other pop stuff. I roll my eyes constantly.

Now, find your way out to the Blending House and you're as apt to find me blasting classical, jazz, prog-rock, Scandinavian black metal, doom/sludge, electronic, or even the rare hip-hop album as you are anything else. Just no country, and no reggae, and probably not much pop except for Caroline Polacheck because she is wonderfully weird, and she produces her own schiit.
Interesting that you mention Caroline Polachek. I really enjoyed streaming her album 'Desire, I Want to Turn Into You', so much that I bought in in both CD and vinyl. Both formats sound great through URD and Mani 2 to Freya S & Dual Vidar chain!. Cheers! - (with a shot of Woodford Reserve) after a good day of house, yard, and car chores.

Blue Note much more promising this year, already new Bill Frisell, Charles Lloyd, Julien Lage announced...
I'm anxious for the new LP from Melissa Aldana. 😁

She's completely fantastic! She came out of nowhere (for me - longtime fans of her other projects obviously knew better than I) and smacked me upside the head with fun engaging pop with excellent production and sound that I later found out she does herself. That's rad!

She's also unafraid to be a little weird, also rad.

Dang (live)

Edit: I got my metalhead drummer friend totally hooked on her. That was fun.

My visual is you out on the porch in a robe with a long barrel .357 magnum revolver with Acid Bath blasting through the open front door..
.... would you expect otherwise from 'guns ableza' .... 😯🤪?

Looking up para: You talkin' "next to" and "side by side" fantastic or are you talkin' "moving or going beyond" fantastic?
