Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

That must be an old photo, you obviously have upgrades now.😜 I am starting to know your setup better than my own.
Upgrades:

Naturally Finnegan was involved.
Love beautiful wood. One of my side hobbies is knife making- I usually make the handles out of wood with a tung oil finish- takes a lot of work to get a nice high gloss finish.

So Yggy update from the “bachelor week” last week (that was SO last week…)
1. Been on entire time
2. Just got, and installed the 2 foot balanced SnakeOil XLRs from Yggy to Kara, Kara is now configured: (input 1 balanced from Skoll/LP, Input 2 balanced from Yggy, Input 3 SE from Yggy, Input 4 SE from SACD/Transport (using it’s DAC solely for SACD and other silver disk digital that isn’t pure PCM/redbook), Input 5 (SE) currently open.

So, balanced is immediately obviously better in every way. More dynamic. Cleaner. More “air” around piano strings, violin, etc… direct A/B in realtime is now possible…

This is on speakers with wifey sharing the experience (so I can’t do level I’d really like, more like mid/lower 70’s dBA-wise)

Gonna take a while. Hoping this evening to check out seriously the ZMF Bokeh headset I have on loan; be interesting to see how they fare Head to Head with the Koss ESP950’s that just sound so much like my Duetta’s in so many important (to me, YMMV) ways.

But, balanced seems the way to go. At some point I’ll probably disconnect the SE (anyone know if Yggy OG/A1 actually cares? Should I perhaps short out the RCAs? Is running both simultaneously a bad thing, i.e. would balanced be even better if I were to disconnect SE?).

One good sign already: with balanced… with wifey in room (Chopin and Rachmininoff at the moment), she’s taking higher volumes on same music than in the past w/o complaining. (She is NO audiophile, but she’s world class tolerant of my hobbies). Unfortunately, she’s suffering from a horrendously nasty allergic reaction to the black flies that bit her on her forehead whilst we were getting the veg garden in this weekend (it was time to get the potatoes, carrots and lettuces, etc. IN… and we have a 4 week period in May where they are ree-donKulously swarming. Me? I’m a grumpy curmudegeon that likely tastes like Schiit). So, she’s grumpy…

I use this area for photoshop and printing, matting and framing photos...long story, another money pit.
Now its mostly a headphone listening room

Arrangement changes on a almost daily basis and stuff people and vendors send me to play with..
Off camera are other cans, dacs and amps.

On my way to obtaining full forum Schiitizenship:
Accumulate Schiit stack going back to 2018 - MB Bifrost OG, Valhalla, Vali 2, Lyr 3, Mani, Magni 3+, Yggy, MJ3, etc.
Purchase Vali 3 and buy so many tubes that UPS guy is threatening to go on strike unless I consolidate deliveries of these tiny boxes.
Order 5670 - 12AU7 adapter to continue tube decent into hell.
Share tubes with someone on the forum.
Visit Total Wines in Central Connecticut and acquire Oregon Spirits BiB Rye and Wheat whiskeys. (Based on @sixergixer advice)

Almost there - still have to adopt adorable cat.

I notice the distinct lack of "order from and drive to Treehouse and pick up beer" in your list of to-dos... Geez, man! Our kid went to two Unis in CT, and Treehouse was on her list every time I showed up. Welcome to the bank of Dad...

Damn, nice! Now I'm thinking about tube storage...

Edit: phrasing!
I'm thinking tiger maple tube rack. I might know someone that could build such a thing. 🤣

The good news, is Bismarck very much groks high end audio (CD of PF Animals via Yggy into my Apogees). 21st Century “his masters voice”, as it were: “Dad, there are DOGS in our room!”

Bonus points for pet picture

Life is funny!

Putting these tubes in the Lowes Kobalt toolbox, I found two small GE 5670w's! LOL!
Gosh its fun to be 74 yrs young!

They were in one of those cardboard boxs!! Hidden in time.
Heck I dont even remember why I have these!!

Atomicbob over at site "x" stated please dont buy up the WE396a's just get one of these GE's and be happy!

Tom let me know what you think of the GE's? @Paladin79
