Very curious to read more about the technical details. Definitely seems to have more tube voltage this time around (100V vs 60V on the 2++).

Hmm, so will this be an actual upgrade over my Vali 2, or wait for Valhalla 3? I guess we'll have to wait and see. Very exciting.

my only other tube amp, besides the lyr, is a tor roger and that thing is as clean as a whistle - looking forward to hearing some actual "distortion"!
Surprising take on the Roger given its 70-ohm output impedance, but I get it! At something like 120 ohms, the Bottlehead Crack really kicks it up a notch...

i have used the roger with my 300 and 600ohm cans. my gear gets cycled a lot and honestly, i can't remember what it sounded like with some of my other units - i've got cd900st, 600s, edition xs and about 10 others i never put it through any paces with.

i got the lyr and the roger around the same time and sadly it's been riding the bench for a while in favor of the schiit amp and a few solid state offerings.

sounds like it's time to put it back into the mix and see what i can hear though. probably do that when the little vali shows up.

but i do remember thinking the roger sounded very well placed - i had a few buddies over when i got it and they agreed... possibly group think but we'll see here in a week or so if what i remember is valid.

The last Vali I had was an original Vali2 in 2017. My Vali3 should be here sometime next week.
Nice. Still rocking a Vali 2 here. I do enjoy it, but have to admit that Vali 3 looks interesting. Still, I'm going to wait for the Valhalla 3. I have no idea where I'll put a Valhalla 3, but if I am going to upgrade from the Magni/Vali level, it'll be to something in the Gjallarhorn, Modius size range. Enjoying my Heretic far too much to be tempted by the Vali 3, thankfully. Still eager to hear what you think of yours, though.

Well I never do anything halfassed, I go balls out fullassed! I will be getting a pair of 6J5 with adapter and 6SN7 to 2C51 adapter for mine.

Just listening to my modded 6XX on a Lyr+/MM2 combo and enjoying it immensely (finally an amp that can tame the MM2's highs),
hoping that the Vali 3 will come at least somewhat close. :)

Mine should be here till the end of the week...
