Thanks. Well, what I meant was: If you activate Airplay on the M1s - does the device show up on an iPhone as Airplay device even there is no Wifi arround? Or only if there is Wifi arround? This could be tested easily?
There are devices that can do that and others can`t. An example for a device that can do Airplay without Wifi around is the Chord Mojo Poly.
(Using a Hotspot etc. is another procedure again...)
Here I meant if you use the M1s as a receiver (for example streaming a streaming service from a phone to the M1s) - can EQ be applied?
Just got my M1s. The Airplay streaming works great. However, the DLNA streaming stops after each song, states that the file is not found on the device, and then shuts down. This is using Roon using RooExtend UPnP and the squeezebox streaming to the M1S. I have no issues using the RooExtend UPnP to any other device.
I realize this is pretty specific, but maybe @Shanling has a suggestion. Thanks.
Edit: It is a general DLNA issue. Even when streaming from another source (MConnect), the DLNA stream will stop after a song and the "file not found" error on the M1s. The player will disappear and reappear. So it appears to be a general DLNA streaming issue.

I bought it as a wireless digital transport over DLNA for the Mojo 2. I’ve listened to it and the sound is very similar to M0 pro using the 4.4 balanced cable. If you like clean, neutral sound, you’ll like the M1S.
The Mojo is more detailed, larger soundstage, more powerful, and also 3x the price. I wouldn’t be disappointed having to use the balanced out from the M1S if I didn’t have the mojo 2.
Update on the DLNA streaming. It's not a Roon specific issue. It happens with MConnect as well. It's especially prevalent when trying to stream online sources like Qobuz to the M1S. I can play one song of the playlist and it will stop at the end of the track. If I use my local library, I might get a couple tracks before playback stops and I have to hit play again. Usually this will result in a "file not found error" on the M1S and I have to wait a few seconds for the M1S to come back online. I can stream airplay all day long without issue. Most of my music is CD quality, so it's not a deal breaker.
Fun fact, if you do a factory reset, the language will default to I assume Chinese. It took a bit to navigate to the language menu. I didn't get a pop up to select language.
Overall I really like it as a wireless streamer. Navigating music on the screen is much nicer that M0pro for fat fingers. I'm waiting for my coax cable from Aliexpress to try that function out. The only Coax I have is for iBasso to Mojo 2. It is not compatible with Shanling.

I've posted on both Shanling M1S threads. Shanling is aware and working on it. Hopefully a firmware update will solve the issues. Otherwise, this is a killer mini WiFi streamer/DAP.
