Shanling Streamers - EM5 & NEW EA5 Plus

Does the EM5 support Apple Music, and when will US Dealers have inventory (noticed MusicTeck, Bloom, and 46 did not)?
Apple Music was released with the firmware update, right the last post above yours.

So far Musicteck and Audio46 didn't order EM5. You can check with them directly regarding availability.

And Bloom is not our dealer.

Thanks, so in the US, only Audio46 and MusicTeck? If they choose not to order, may I buy it directly?

I would recommend reaching out to them with inquiry on ordering EM5.

@Shanling Hi, i just bought a EM5 but i was wandering how is the backgroung noise with sensitive IEM? (i intend to use a Thieaudio Monarch with 4.4 output and a Grado PS1000e with 6.5 output).
Edit: another question: i like treble a lot, how is treble extension with the EM5?

More information on Shanling EA5 - All -In-One Music Centre

Designed as a multifunctional music centre for your desktop Hi-Fi system, working perfectly all alone or in combination with your other devices.

Heart of EA5 is its digital player system, giving you easy access to a range of streaming services or working with your music library. Just insert MicroSD card, attach hard drive or connect EA5 to your local Wi-Fi network and music will start. And all of that can be controlled remotely from an app on your phone.

Then there are two amplifiers hidden inside EA5. Our standard headphone amplifier, offering up to 570mW@32Ohm power for your audiophile headphones, using a full-size 6.35mm output. But more special is the included Abletec Class-D amplifier for speakers, with 50W@4Ohm per channel. Making EA5 into a perfect choice for a desktop setup, where you might need to often switch between headphones and speakers.

Rest of EA5 is filled with the connectivity, so it can be used in many other scenarios. It can work as a dedicated DAC with a computer or other digital sources. It can be connected to a separate amplifier and used as a pure DAC or as a pre-amplifier. In reverse, it can also work as a integrated amplifier, connected to separate DAC. It can even work with Bluetooth, both as a receiver and as a source.

Managed to get OTA upgrade working by changing to server 2 but it was taking way too long with only 2% progress in about half an hour. Decided to do a manual upgrade instead by downloading the upgrade file onto the PC and transferring it to the EM5. Successfully upgraded to version 1.2 in a few minutes...

Could you please comment on sound quality, comparison with other devices etc?

It will be much appreciated!

@Shanling,
Are you going to have enough AKM AK4493 chips to support these products? Or will you have to consider changing the DAC in the future?

I am very interested in the EM5. However, as someone mentioned back in May, a lot of us do have AMPs and DACs already, but could really use a desktop Streaming/Digital Transport with the same capabilities as the EM5, just with options to feed our own DAC/AMP. I purchased a desktop transport from a company a long time ago. The company offered one firmware upgrade and then basically abandoned it. It still works for local files, but streaming was never added.

You have the makings of a desktop streamer/local file player that would put others to shame! Plus the fact that you could actually make it affordable versus companies charging $1500 - $5000USD for basically the same thing.
Just a thought...
Cheers and All the Best! :beerchug:

Sorry for this. OTA updates depends on condition of Chinese servers and also how is their access from given country.
For many the manual update is faster.

Right now we have enough AKM AK4493 for planned lifespan of EA5/EM5.

Dedicated streamer is interesting idea.

Thank you for the info! I can only speak for myself but I could definitely use a streamer if you offered one.

PS - For the M9's next DAC (after the AKM), please consider a resister ladder or rail-to-rail. Thanks!
