Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)

Look legit, just like mine. Smooth, good balance, good dynamics, good warmth, good air, voices right there, good imaging, bass with good control and not too punchy, somewhat power hungry, though. Very musical!

Step 1: instant recabling...I used a 80 cm male-female extension for $2.99 from aliexpress [Rock brand as in "Rock Zircon"].

Step 2: Pulling out the ole Sony XBA-C10, a 2013 model.

The XBA-C10 made the "best of" lists of 2014. Superficially, it sounds almost identical to the MH755 but is easier to drive, although not by much. Some claimed the XBA-C10 were the best Sony earphones at the time...which is a bit far fetched in my opinion.

I wonder if it has the same BA as my XBA-1. Mine has treble roll-off after 12 KHz. Bass is not as tight as my other BA IEM.

Dunno if anyone else has seen these yet, but the RY Earphone store on Aliexpress has the best price and selection I've seen on female mmxc sockets.

I'm wondering if B or C would work to mod the MH755.

B is what I used for my MH755.

Honestly if the cable weren't so blasted noisy whenever I move my head (it's looping under my ponytail, this could quite easily be a contributing factor) I'd be half-tempted to say heck with Bluetooth cables and MMCX vs 2-pin connectors and just buy a Fiio μBTR for my MH755 and be done with it. >->

Ah, hmmm. I ordered that one. Was that the one that didn't fit some cables?

Yeah, but I think it was a case of there being some slight manufacturing variances in ALL of these jacks and cables.

For example, a random female mmcx jack here has its center pin just a fraction of a mm off, and the cable you just happen to be using has its male mmcx just a fraction of a mm off as well (both due to random tolerance variations).

Not that hard to find on ebay.

Before this thread was started there was talk of these in several other threads along with photos and links. You just need to use the search function to find those discussions if you are interested. People who were not interested got bored of the MH755 talk so we needed this thead.

All our white ones are legit. I bought them from an ebay seller based in the UK.... except for my pink one...I had to get that one from China. Here it is newly recabled. I had a different cable on it but it was too micro-phonic for the tiny little shell. This one is better and I like how it looks.

It is difficult to get the pink color to photograph properly in this light so late at night.

Is this the same cable as the one you have here?

Can someone please confirm, whether MH755 bought here are legit? Did anyone deal with this seller? I think I got the link in this thread, but I can't remember.
They're a little cheaper than the ones I bought before, and the delivery is free.

I'm listening right now to that seller's mh755 and yes, they're original.
send PM if you want pics of the driver or the label

It does look similar but it is not the same. That cable was something we had gotten for a certain headphone and then were disappointed by how thin it was. So we cut off the 2.5mm earcup connectors to use on the 755. We had some problems with the connections and ended up changing it to something else.

We have used the one you linked to in a couple of earbuds that my husband @HungryPanda made. I like them. Some cables are more difficult than others to get through the strain relief on the 755 or into a bud. We have other cables from that store on ali. This is a 150 ohm bud that he made using a PK shell. This cable is actually a little softer and more flexible than the one in the earlier photo. Feels nicer.

My cable finally came in, and I used my like 10 year old soldering iron, with shaky hands and got it working.
Took around 30 minutes, 'cause my iron's tip just wasn't getting hot enough to do anything.
At one point, I did think I destroyed the left driver, since I was getting no sound, but it's all good.
