my exp with ciem and uiem is exactly the same👀

upped organicity through frequencies ( which feels less digital and less peaking at times / less peak behavior ) but a bit rolled on microdetails perception

more smooth in drawing contrasts with ciem, but somewhat more convincing too, more natural dynamic transients

I might go for rn6 a day too

Hopefully a comparison with the sp3000 and the n30le will come soon 😬😬😬😬😄
WM1ZM2 vs SP3000 :
Both are built in an exemplary way, as true premium products.
Using Qobuz streaming, the 1ZM2 battery discharges less quickly, even using some DSP. And the charging is much faster always in the 1ZM2
The SP3000 starts up faster and the user interface is better .
And the volume wheel, which also indicates the bitrate of the music you are listening to, is fantastic. This is something that is definitely missing in 1ZM2
Sound :
SP3000 : His is an absolute reference sound, balanced and that can be further exalted using the DAR, to oversample PCM or DSD files
1ZM2 : Its sound is simply a fantastic mix of musicality, technicality, and that natural analogue warmth that makes every song so exciting, in tube style .
In addition, the various DSPs (all superb) allow you to have additions to the sound, based on the type of music / album you are listening to, giving a wide choice of customisation.

Conclusions: the SP3000 is perfect if you want a reference sound, without compromise.
The WM1ZM2 is instead everything you would like if you are looking for a sound that envelops you with its warm analogue musicality, without giving up a high level of detail. And with many options (DSP ) that give variations to the sound itself .

I prefer the WM1ZM2 and these days I can't stop listening to its sound, so rich of soul

Awesome picture! Pardon my ignorance, What is that PW attachment used for? I've seen them but I don't quite understand the purpose of it or how it enhances the listening experience.

Yeah the problem is especially when compared to other sources like Mojo 2 RS6. If you don’t compare then it’s fine... it's all relative.
This is a really unusual take. I have a mojo, mojo 2 + poly, Hugo 2 +2go, wm1a2 and several other sources. I would honestly take each of them over the rs6. In particular because of technical ability. I find the rs6 severely lacking in technical performance (it can be helped with mods) but it never reaches the level of wm1a2 much less wm1z2. So as the others were saying it’s coming down to preference and gear cause there’s no way I would use the rs6.

How much better is WM1ZM2 better compared to WM1AM2?

How much better is WM1ZM2 better compared to WM1AM2?

When i was deciding between the 2, there were slight differences in sonic signature, i wouldn't say "better-better". The Z had a blacker background, cleaner. Then it all boiled down to the fact that I liked the heft (was rocking the 300Max back then), and the bling bling. Lastly, i was able to afford it.

Otherwise, the 1AM2 imo is ridiculously good value for money when compared to the Z. I know for a fact that I'm never recovering much of what I spent on it when and if I decide to sell it years later.

My latest trio:
IER-Z1R (w/i BSEP for Z1R) / NW-WM1 / HAA Resolute

I was listening to the track "Hello by Friends of Carlotta" and it was just just amazing, black black background, excellent lower mid, bass and sub bass extensions, musical, emotional, an experience at an entirely diff level!

Will try the 1ZM2 later

As for now the sound coming out from the Resolute is absolutely stunning! No regret to purchase the Resolute as it gives a new life to the 1Z (am sure will do the same for the M2).

This review of the Resolute has been instrumental for me to decide on the purchase (https://musicalhead.de/2023/08/10/test-thrax-resolute-by-haa/), as the review tested the Resolute with Chord and the ZÄHL HM1 REFERENCE, and the Resolute is just plainly transparent and honest without coloring the source and everything in between. Well I can confirm that trhis is really case! I'm just hearing the sound as faithfully reproduced by the NW-WM1 and the IER-Z1R, as I've listened to the track thousand times!

The Resolute gives the NW-WM1 a better life, and the true potential that the DAP is capable of!

I don't find much on Headfi about Trailli + Wm1zm2. Can someone share their first hand experience please?

Sometimes, rarely, but from time to time the topic measurement comes up.

The most representive measurement is, by far, multitone as this is one of the few measurements that shows, how an device performs, when there is more than just one single sound.

Did anyone notice yet that the WM1ZM2 Multitone performance is way above average?

The WM1ZM2 has an SNR of roughly 100~110db in Multitone. To give more context, the FiiO M11 Plus has an 90-110db (with an significantly lover average than the Walkman.

Also the Multitone performance measurement of the WM1ZM2 is pretty flat while the M11 Plus is all over the place (you can literally see the capacitors giving up)

So many people talk about measurements, but everyone talks about 1kHz sine waves. Give more love to Multitone, that is closer to reality and, surprise surprise, where the Walkman shines
