It does seem to fall into the "too good to be true" category... The drop seems to say it is the same as the 650 (the 650 IS pretty much all plastic, BTW). Hmmmm....

Apparently it's thermoplastic carbon fiber. Not plain plastic.

I could show you pictures of pure carbon fibre breaking. Don't get the point? Never said they were physically impossible to break, just stronger than your average plastic headphone and could take more punishment.

Sure, had a carbon fiber mountain bike at one point, it definitely could crack.

Lesson learned here? Don't bend your headband, or the obvious might happen.

Makes me wonder how nice of beyerdynamic to offer real metal on DT series headphones for mere $150. Real German tank-like build. The neighbour, Sennheiser, despite being more popular and successful care more about weight and do it in plastic. I am yet to see a broken DT 770/880/990. All below $200.

on another thread someone pointed out Vorzuge are having a 15% off sale on their amps, until Black Friday. http://vorzuge.com/shop/

metal headband is nice and all, but I put HD25 through like 5 years of continuous travel and (ab)use and the plastic headband seemed to do just fine :D

Yes, HD25 is a great phone for field recording. On par with DT 1350 or even better, some say. I prefer DT 1350. Better and supreme isolation and more neutral than HD25. And better build too. Not to mention, mini Tesla drivers' great performance.

Let's get back to thread - Deals and Discussion.

Looking to grab a set of Sony MDR-7506 first quality brand new from an authorized Sony retailer with warranty (no counterfeits).

These were running $80 with free shipping at a few authorized places until just a couple weeks ago & now prices jumped to $99 shipped.

Groupon remains $80 but unsure of their source, they may get anything out there.

Expected to wait to near Thanksgiving  hoping an authorized retailer would have a discount at a bit under $80 shipped (in USA).

Be cool to find 10 to 20 % off discount; almost seems recent price hike is upping them temporarily to counter Thanksgiving discounts; maybe will be $80 shipped again after the holidays. But it could also be a uniform price increase ongoing. In no hurry, just hoping for a deal.

Anyone weigh in with advice & maybe where I can look for them at just under $80 shipped, or do they have a history of discount around Thanksgiving to New Years ?
