Finally got around to giving Alex Lifeson's solo album a spin, and it's a pretty interesting creative exploration. From absolutely savage metal tracks to funk-infused rock to an impressive 2:30 wailing guitar solo that harkens back to the great works of Joe Satriani.

It's been forever since I listened to that! Still remember buying the CD new.

There is a 'grey-market' double live CD of this tour from a NYC radio broadcast; I saw it in Oakland in 1985 or '86. For some reason, I was never able to get into the studio version all that much, but wow, it was a different thing altogether when performed in concert and was right up there with any PF show I ever saw. He continued it with the following Radio KAOS album and tour, and again, the album was good, but the show was an experience. There is a grey-market version of this, too, but unlike Pros and Cons, it doesn't have the whole show.

What a brilliant piece of music.... I recently got that Van Der Graaf Generator - The Charisma Years box set, and it's got new stereo remixes of 'H To He', 'Pawn Hearts', 'Godbluff' and 'Still Life'. Been working on some pix of Peter Hammill I took back in the 70's (along with hundreds of other 'new' photos!) but they're not quite ready for general consumption yet.... Also a nice version of 'Plague of Lighthouse Keepers' from a French (I think) TV show, in a studio....

Skiffle music! Makes a body feel good and wanna dance. Why not?

Skiffle music was big in the 1950s in England. Everybody was in a skiffle band,
even the guys who became The Beatles. The song influences are mostly from
the US South - folk, blues and jazz. Rock and Roll was yet to be invented.
The first two songs in the show. Easy to tell when Van Morrison joins in!


The whole band is a hoot, but the real star here is Lonnie Donegan.

Already posted enough, but I had to include this one ... Mr. Donegan again.
