Woo's New Flagship WA33

that's not very long at all, 3 hours per day for 500 days would only be 1500 hours.

3 hours at minimum, average maybe 5 - 7 hours. I think my lesson learned is I often let it play while I take care of other things because I like to just put the headphone in my head again after finish doing something without needing to turn the system on and off again.

So, I'm going RCA into my WA33 EE JPS now, due to the VM-1a requiring XLR. I'm using a modded mDAVE, so there really shouldn't be a difference, but I noticed something. I'm still putting my finger on it, but there is a change. Anybody else use RCA into their WA33?

so there really shouldn't be a difference,
They'll most likely be a difference, the WA33 is balanced internally, so it has to convert the SE input to Balanced. That might be done with an input transformer, which may or may not be bypassed for balanced inputs. Either way it'll minimally ground a different tap on the transformer.

WA33 uses Phase splitters (which is an input transformer?) similar to the WA22 to convert SE to balanced. The attached pic is of a WA22. I had internal pics of my WA33 but I may have lost them when I switched from Android to iPhone.

Edit: you can see them on the left in the WA33 internal pic.

Well I’m down to two amps to consider wa33 elite or cfa3 with unknown price and options. Frankly woo has a path at this point.

I have both (well the ee jps). I use the WA33 EE JPS as a preamp to my CFA3. The WA33 EE is better (as well it should be for the cost). You're looking at like $3500 for a fully upgraded CFA3. The CFA3 is really good, it's just not as good as the WA33. If you have the money, the WA33 EE is just simply better. However, for the price, the CFA3 can't be beat. It just needs a tube pre to sound that extra special. I'd say it's like 70% of the WA33, and for the cost that is impressive.

Should have a EE at some point in the near future - looking forward to trying it with the cfa3.

Have you tried any other amps as preamps to the cfa3? If so, what were your thoughts compared to the wa33?

I tried my 3ES Elite (300B tubes) as a pre to my CFA3. The 3ES elite gives better bass, but the wa33 gives a more 3D sound. It's a trade off. The CFA3 gives like 70% of the sound of the WA33 EE JPS, at a fraction of the cost. It is actually a great deal. Still, I like the WA33 more 🤷‍♂️

What power cable do you guys think has good synergy with the WA33?

I'm currently using an AQ Hurricane high current pc into the wa33. it's very good with the TWL Obsession (previously my main PC with wa33, but perhaps a bit too clean/clear/quiet when using with Elrog 5u4g) and Cardas Clear/Reflection cords too. didn't fancy it much with Furutech DPS4.1.

I use the Danacables Nirvana power cable. I like it, but didn't notice much difference from their standard cable. I'm not a big power cable believer, but I know many others are. I need to try different ones perhaps. 🤷‍♂️
