With these super tall 807 output tubes in the amp, I measured 10.5" inches from the bottom of the feet to the top of adapters. The 807 is the tallest tube that I have.- Wes S

Just out of curiosity, what's your preferred setting or your idea of the most optimal for the Caldera Closed and Open? I am using 1/4" LOW with the CC and loving it, but would love to know your thoughts.- Wes S

To elaborate on this a bit, one can go for the popular holy grails and know for sure they are getting something that will elevate the sound more than most. Also, one can find tubes that many don't know about that are just as good and not super expensive (yet), and many times this requires an...- Wes S

I am not just talking about "cheap" tubes, I am talking about "affordable" tubes that many have not used or discovered yet as being great. I have heard super expensive holy grails and totally agree they can elevate the sound above all common tubes. There are so many tubes out there...- Wes S

I have been there and done that, only to eventually sell tubes like that to fund more cheaper tubes that sound great together. I get that tubes like that can elevate the amp, and so can the right blend of good tubes. It takes more effort to get there with the affordable tubes, and...- Wes S

It's hard to get past the acid etched codes that definitely looks Fivre to me. I think you might just have an earlier version. My Fivre doesn't look at all like RCA to me.- Wes S

One get all this with a well designed tube amp (with the right tube combo) on it's own as well. The Aegis does all that in one chassis.- Wes S

Here is a Fivre 807 for reference as well. From my research, I feel that each brand did actually make their own 807. I have seen Mullard, Fivre, Cossor, GEC, Foton, and then all the American versions as well. Now, I also believe that there was some rebranding going on to, so it can be a...- Wes S

Well, these Mullard Black Plate 807 have the most lifelike midrange I have ever heard, and I am happy to own them, and feel no need to chase the dragon with ridiculous priced "Holy Grails". It's more about synergy with the other tubes, preferences and gear, than it is about just having some...- Wes S

Yes sir, those are some Mullard Black Plate 807 and they sound heavenly. I do also have a pair of Fivre 807 ceramic base black plate, as well as the GEC VT60. I got the VT60 from the same place you got yours, and I got the Mullard and Fivre from Langrex. I bought all the ceramic base...- Wes S

That sounds a lot like how I would describe my Mullard 807 Black Plates. I do have some of those Fivre as well as some GEC VT60, and plan to compare them all this weekend. The 807 is a winner so far that's for sure, with mids to die for.- Wes S

The earlier the better. There are also a bunch of listings that say 1579 in the title but are just regular 6N9S. The real 1579 has metal mica "clamps", and will say 1579 on it.- Wes S
