    The discovery thread!

Sorry to say you could eq the two to the same curve but the two are so far apart in technicalities and overall level of playback the EM6L doesn't have the chops to get close. NO EST no 2 DD and the BA quality sets the 10th apart not only from the EM6L but lots of others in its price range or...

Shanling M5 Ultra - High-End MTouch Portable Player - Releasing in April 2024

The Pilgrim at 9ohms I absolutely adore on the M5U and to chine in on battery post review I can confirm I do indeed get 9 hours roughly on bal out that hits the sweet spit for me getting 3 3hr session out of it before recharge required I am happy with that.

Lots of drivers and not a single positive feedback from those who tried it at the shows. I hope they retuned and fixed whatever was wonky.

Shanling M5 Ultra - High-End MTouch Portable Player - Releasing in April 2024

I agree it has better detail retrieval than the M8 and doesn't quite sound as warm.

Shanling M5 Ultra - High-End MTouch Portable Player - Releasing in April 2024

Definitely not slow to load works great , there is a bug Shanling knows about that it doesn't load all tou Tidal playlists that's all.

XENNS (previously known as Mangird) Impressions Thread

It's actually well balanced, yes it has bass but it doesn't overpower the rest of the tuning.

The UP is worthy the TOP didn't do it for me like the UP's do it's simply the better of the two for me!

Put some 3M Transpore over the front vent holes for a dynamic bass increase and make this set much more balanced

You need to up your finger strength Jay, the Pentaconn Ear are much easier to pull out than MMCX and cable swap no tools required. At least on my set as this was my first experience with PE I would love if this was the standard over 2 pin. I absolutely love It.

For a larger DD experience the Hiby Project Ace is a better option and is a noticeable step up in resolution and bass without mods over the iBasso

Let me know if you also experience a tonne of interference when chaining your N3 Ultra to the XDUOO XD05 Pro I can't stack the two one on top of the other as the N3U picks up noise and incorporates them into the output and garbles the low end.

Cayin N3Ultra: an Entry-level Portable DAP that Delivers a Complete Vacuum Tube Audio Experience

What I'm surprised with is Cayin hasn't reached out with any acknowledgment or posts for any reviews or feedback that is not super positive. I work with Hiby, Shanling as a beta tester and they love the input. How companies respond to criticism and feedback speaks volumes about its character...

Cayin N3Ultra: an Entry-level Portable DAP that Delivers a Complete Vacuum Tube Audio Experience

The double tap does work for me but it's not consistent. Kida like the shuffle all button takes a while to register after you tapped it starts working. EDIT: I am starting to think it's not the software that's buggy it's the screen sensitivity that's the issue and causing the inconsistent...

Introducing Shanling M5 Ultra - High-End MTouch Portable Player at $589

About the gain thing this is what my pier from Canucks Audioholics said . Kevin Davies said "I’ve had similar experience. Not sure if to same degree you are hearing on M5U. But I usually chalked it up to the IEM responding differently to the change. However, if my understanding is correct...

Introducing Shanling M5 Ultra - High-End MTouch Portable Player at $589

On Medium Gain Fast roll off filter it's like a new IEM Bass is definitely faster and it comes alive really liking this combo. When I shot the ME600 video I said the two were not a good pairing and I now change that opinion.

Cayin N3Ultra: an Entry-level Portable DAP that Delivers a Complete Vacuum Tube Audio Experience

I think if the software gets figured out in a timely fashion, this player will be on top of the list for people looking for a no frills purist player. As it is now if you can oversee some glaring flaws and onboard streaming is not a priority for you. I would wholeheartedly recommend this DAP...

Also found a nasty bug not sure if this has been addressed after the last update. @Shanling On main screen you hit the ❤️ and the unit plays a nasty POP and the player reboots.

Introducing Shanling M5 Ultra - High-End MTouch Portable Player at $589

Ok Thats Interesting observation, I switched to Medium gain and indeed the Shanling ME600 I am listening too did pek up noticeably!. On Low gain the playback sounds softer warmer and less dynamic. That's a sound difference I have never encountered before on any other DAP. I wonder if has to...

This DAP to me feels under rated Its got some juice. I keep looking that I didn't bump the gain up from Low because it drives my IEM'S like nobody's business. I haven't went past 60 yet. Be interesting to see how it does on something like the FF Scarlett Mini!
