New Head-Fier
Pros: Sound, feel, and look very similar to the M50, but with forward mids. Plus custom friendly cable
Cons: Some initial clampforce, may not be the most comfortable to some
I went straight out of the receiver with these and straight out of my clip+. A-B against my M50s.

These Isolate extremely well, better than the M50 IMO, have great bass, clear forward mids and detailed highs. The Treble is slightly recessed, but the headphones aren't dark, I actually found them to be more neutral than the M50. Bass extension was great, not as boomy as the m50 which will be a plus for many I'm sure. The mids were very forward and clear, reminded me a lot of my FA003, which is another great headphone. Soundstage was pretty good for a closed can, sounded good with Jazz and electronic music, classical was its weak point but it was dynamic enough to still be enjoyable. Build quality is fantastic, especially for an all plastic headphone; these felt heavy and durable, plus they fold flat and compact just like the M50.

Out of the Clip+ I found them to be a little veiled. They really need a bit of extra power to sound good, but nothing extreme, I'm sure a Fiio e9 or simply using your receiver (as in my case) is more than enough.

Compared to other sub $50 headphones these are the best I've heard to date and are significantly better than the Pannasonic HTF600 (another solid budget contender) and would lead me to suggest these over the M50 in all Tight Budget situations. Great for college kids or apartment dwellers (the isolation is great).

Overall I'd say these are bassy enough to satisfy most bassheads, yet neutral enough to invite the neutral crowd also on a budget. Really dynamic headphones, I implore other head-fi'ers to pick these up and try them out. They really are a solid little headphone.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Great sound, good isolation, comfortable, DURABLE, cable quality
Cons: For the price? None.
Straight out of SANSA Clip+

Bass is accurate, punchy and deep, the mids are slightly recessed and the treble is very crisp. Clarity is up to Fischer standards, no veiled sound here.

Overall they sound very similar to the ATH M50, but with less recession and greater clarity (though less inviting imaging)

These are one of the best IEM's I'ver ever heard, and for the price they are practically unbeatable.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Price, Sound quality
Cons: Colored, veiled, needs a little extra power
Getting Started

Forewarning I'm a neutral fan and don't like colored or veiled sound, please take that into account. Also My ratings are based around the price - for the money these headphones are undeniably out of the ballpark.

The sources used for this review are my SLS audio receiver qv-avr500 (respectable onboard amp) and straight from mp3 player (this is a budget headphone afterall)

PACKAGING

Exceptional - presented like a 100$ headphone and protected well from damage (ordered these online) certainly a better looking package than what came with my ATHM50

Contains the headphones (Circum-aural) with quality pleather pads (very similar to M50) 10ft cable (straight and a little thin, but on par with headphones twice the price) 1/4inch adapter (gold) and standard 3.5 (gold)

BUILD/COMFORT

Light and feel neither delicate or sturdy (a great deal of plastic). Great padding, very comfortable (your ears might get warm after an hour or so) They certainly feel like more than 30$ and are infinitely more comfortable (and attractive) than anything in the Sennheiser HD2xx line

SOUND
FROM RECEIVER

Warm and full - very detailed (not just for a $30 can, but for a CLOSED can). Imaging is fantastic and adds great depth to the music. The highs were slightly sibilant when I first used them, but they mellow after a short burn (20 hours)

The Mids were slightly recessed, and vocals felt veiled - certainly the biggest shortcoming here, but still, nothing to really take off for - it doesn't effect the music in a negative fashion - but you WILL hear a difference between this and a high level can.

The low end is excellent - tight and punchy or low and boomy, whatever the music calls for. While its not the bassiest can in the world - its enough to make me label this a BASSHEAD headphone. However (being a neutral fan) I should point out that this doesn't sound bad to me - its just not a personal preference

Overall they sounded fun and inviting - WELL worth the money

SOUND
MP3 PLAYER

Vocals and Mids are more forward - bass is less warm and in less quantity - the detail remains largely unchanged. The highs feel more energetic and the headphone takes a more neutral sound

I find it enjoyable - but it sounds better out of the receiver (making me certain that these will want some form of amplification)

CONCLUSION
For 30$ you can't beat it - the #1 competitor in this price range is the Senn HD202...and its vastly inferior headphone

If your new to HiFi sound, or are a budget can junkie - check these out, they are well worth the $$$

(I'll be editing this in the future by adding additional sources/amps)

All recordings used were in FLAC or 320k Mp3.

Can't disagree more. Build quality is less than good with drivers that can get out of place and need to be physically blown back. Poor strain relief on the cord. Hot, sweaty, cheap pads. Extremely veiled sound, muddy overbearing bass, no detail, distortion on some high notes. Listening to music with these was not enjoyable in the slightest.
You'd be much better off with KSC75's or Porta Pros in this price range.

^ Sounds like you are listening to a damaged pair - My drivers are perfectly stable. Also, bassy headphones aren't for everyone (as I pointed out). So here on Head-fi we tend to play nicer and not take away TOO heavily for something not being to our taste.

also KSC75 and Porta's aren't for everyone - they are portable and can be uncomfortable for some.

To be accurate, I didn't have a damaged set, just listed a couple of the physical flaws that have been reported in the long thread in the full sized headphone thread regarding these headphones. The issue with the driver getting out of position is not an isolated case, as several have experienced it. My problem with the set centered on its poor sound and sweaty pads.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Detailed, Neutral, good for any genre
Cons: Neutral - so not for everyone
Good neutral set. I play them out of a vintage Sony Receiver from the early 80's and it provides plenty of power to push these to their limits.

Most versatile set of cans I've owned, everything really sounds good with them. I would however not recommend them for Bassheads, they have the extension needed, but not quite the force of presence. I would say vocal reproduction is their strength, and that for their price they're likely the best option for neutral fans.

Think these things can be driven with a Clip+?

I think so - I certainly didn't lose any detail or clarity on weaker power sources. However they were slightly less adaptive to bassy music - but they still got the job done while sounding good :)

New Head-Fier
Pros: Bass extension
Cons: Mids are recessed
At a low enough price these are worth grabbing (40$). At standard MSRP of 70$ they aren't.

Overall I'd compare them roughly to the sound quality of the Panasonic HTS600, just at nearly twice the price.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Sound, Earfins, Isolation, Neutral
Cons: Cable picks up noise of clothing. Neutral
Dull neutral sound. Uninviting and while comfortable and stay in place no matter what you're doing they pick up clothing noise in the cable. So they really don't succeed as workout IEM's.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Sound and build quality
Cons: Mids are recessed
For the right price these are worth it. At 80-100$ they're a good buy. At MSRP of 150$ I would pass.

Excellent bass extension; play well out of mp3 players as well as amps; very detailed and "fun" sounding. Lacking in the midrange for vocals personally. Great for bassheads, neutral fans look elsewhere.

A good cheap substitute for these would be the Panasonic HTF600, performing at close to 90% the same sound quality @ 30$

New Head-Fier
Pros: Sound with a little extra juice
Cons: You're going to need a little extra juice
Straight out of an mp3 player or pc these won't be that good. Coming out of something with more power however they really change and become fun.

Emphasis of the upper mids, which makes them slightly fatiguing, tight bass with decent extension (45hz before a dropoff).

With extra power these are neutral with a bit of life to them. Without any extra power they are tinny and surgical, a poor combination.

New Head-Fier
Pros: cheap, long battery life, usb rechargeable
Cons: Kinda weak, improves performance but there are better amps
cheap, long battery life, does its job.

Can't drive nice headphones, but excellent for earbuds or lowend over ears

worth the $$

but I would personally recomend the PA2V2, only 60$ and considerably better.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Cheap
Cons: plastic, too dark
Dark. Many many other budget headphones have a more inviting sound.

1eye1derweasil

New Head-Fier
Pros: Pretty solid bass extension
Cons: Muddy Muddy Muddy
Muddy. Did I say Muddy? Muddy. Unbearable lack of comfort.

1eye1derweasil

New Head-Fier
Pros: Super inexpensive
Cons: Flat bass, one note highs. Boring. Cable isn't portable friendly
For around 30$ there are infinitely better headphones available.

What would you recommend in the $30 range?

1eye1derweasil

New Head-Fier
Pros: Solid sound for cheap
Cons: boomy sloppy bass
Well beyond what you'll get from other computer speakers. But still not hi-fidelity by a long shot.

1eye1derweasil

New Head-Fier
Pros: low priced, actually delivers 5.1
Low prices on these, which if your looking for a cheap 5.1 then its not too bad.

Sound quality is what you would expect from a set under 100$ and the bass is surprisingly powerful for its size.

The wires are too short to set this up as a surround sound anywhere except a dorm room

Good cheap gaming speakers, but not that great for music.
