After writing about the Jomo Audio GT600 a little while ago, it is now time for the Jomo’s Instinct Emerald that Joseph Mou has sent for a tour across Europe. It has been a rollercoaster ride for me in a good way. The tuning is pleasant, bass is punchy in the low end, while adding something uniqe in the treble thanks to the added PZT driver, which sits within gorgeously crafted emerald green shells. It offers the best of both worlds to my eyes.
The Faceplate looks astonishingly beautiful with a hologram effect on them. There are 9 drivers each side, 2 10 MM DD’s 6 BA’s 1 PZT. The shell fit is quite nice. To be honest I preferred the Carbon shell of the GT600 a little more for my ears. I goes without saying that the Instinct Emerald is quite comfortable but I personally prefer the GT600 a hint more. The CNC Brass Acoustic Chamber reflects that Joseph is once again showcasing his skills as an engineer and as a craftsman with his knowledge of materials that are being used in the Jomo Audio Instinct Emerald.

As for the chain I trust the HiBy RS8 with a different of a setup this time. The Hiby was setup swith the MasterMind Plug to get that Tubey sound which adds a hint of color to the sound. I also like it on the Vinyl Mode where every frequency below 150hz or thereabout becomes mono since you can’t make it physically possible to have those in stereo on a vinyl. The Convolution Plugin was swapped from BRIR20231115 to the Joe’s Lossless Crossfeed V2. For tips, I figureed out this setting after a lot of trial and error on the Infitter IE45 Eartips. I also liked the Divinus Velvets. They make the sound a little dark, not by much, just that little. The IE45 provides a little more energy up top while the Divinus Veltets tips make them a little more bass prominent. It will eventually depend on an audiophile’s personal taste and preference.
The Jomo Audio Instinct Emerald comes loaded with Adrenaline MK2 4W Cable out of the box. I have tried other cables but I prefer the stock cable because of its synergy. It is a complete package when you buy the Instinct Emerald. The RS8 on Mid Gain makes the sound even more lively while adding to the dynamics.
Specifications (Adrenalin MKII 4W Cable):
● 4 Strands 21 AWG Silver-Plated Copper Wire
● High-Precision CNC-Machined Solid Metal Components
● OCC Silver-Plated Copper for Enhanced Sound Performance
I asked Joseph about his choice of material for the Adrenaline MKII 4W cable. It was specifically Designed for the intended tuning of The Instinct Emerald. Music is not a frequency response but rather a pulse response. He made the cable and IEM, perfectly synergistic. The pairing works flawlessly and perform on par with my expectations from a TOTL IEM. This exclusive bundle also provides a perfect synergy of outstanding audio quality and premium craftsmanship. Whether you're an audiophile or a music enthusiast, the Instinct IEM paired with the Adrenalin MKII 4W cable delivers an exceptional and immersive listening experience.
Tonality: V shaped with good attack and rumble in bass while maintainig clear treble, mids are not left behind or too scooped out. They are clearr with nice instrument separation. This is where I play a bit with the balance by tip rolling, making it darker or brighter.
Bass: The sub bass is nice and rumbly with a good texture to enhance it. It feels as if the set focuses a little more on sub bass than the mid bass, which is not an issue. In the beginning of the track It’s All On Me by Dr Dre (Compton Album) the bass hits are very tasty, while the notes next to it are not touched or the drum roll in the song A Certain Romance by Artic Monkeys
Mids: there is no bleed in to the lower mids on this of a set. They Were made to maximize the pleasure of every note. The lower guitar notes are very pleasant to listen to. Instruments are very nicely placed and well separated with enough space and are very clear even when they push in the bass region. Upper mids are quite clear too,but not as forward as on the GT600. There are slight differences between both of them. Even in busier passages they have no issues in displaying sheer prowess.
Vocals are lovely, nothing to say on those between the Instinct Emerald and the GT600. I personally preferred the GT600’s a little more to be honest
Aces High by Iron Maiden is absolutely flawless between each note.
Addicted by Amy Whinehouse, oooh that was lovely
Treble: The treble is where the 9 Layer Peizo Electric Driver shines. It is open and airy with a wide stage. Upper frequency notes are well separated and defined. Even when the instruments go to their upper notes, The Instcin Emerald handles exceptionally well. The Piccilo in orchestra, the general Flute and Violin where played back in a very high level.
Crystallize by Lindsey Stirling; All the little bass notes combined with the violin play was amazing!
Thunderstuck by 2Cello’s, speed and execution of Cello was perfect.
Technicals: I don’t have much to say, to be honest they put there heart and soul into this IEM and it shows everything has been played back at the very highest level. It has ample amount of headspace to bring forward speedy songs with more than enough depth, bringing every note at a TOTL level performance.
If I had to choose between the GT600 and The Instinct Emerald, it would be tough. Both of them have their strong suits, the margins are razor thin even to be honest. I think, I will going for the GT600 beacause it for my ears a little better for a longer sessions and the EST’s were a hint more natural and organic to me.
