4) Galvanic usb isolation.

In the image I have highlighted what appears to be a new module with USB-B and USB-C input and given the desktop purpose, it will probably be galvanically isolated.

I mean, what’s to say that they couldn’t introduce Hugo 3 at a slightly higher price point so as not to cannibalise sales and keep selling Hugo 2? It’s obvious that they are able to squeeze even more SQ out of their designs given the advancements that Mojo 2 had introduced so why not stay ahead of the market even further and not rest on their laurels?
Save for the EQ, Mojo2 basically has borrowed ideas from Hugo2!
- the better bass by replacing a coupling capacitor with a servo.
- true desktop mode and better PSU.
- different filters
all from Hugo2. Hugo2 is good enough not to need SQ upgrades.
Facilities? perhaps.

I’m sure people were saying the same thing about Hugo 1 and Mojo 1

Edit - also, just because they made an amp for Hugo 2 it doesn’t mean a Hugo 3 isn’t on the horizon. It’s highly likely that they will keep the form factor and ports in the same place so that it’s compatible (like Mojo 2 and the Poly)

The EU forces ridiculous regulations on people, the companies still make the money regardless. Micro USB has enough bandwidth to cover its purpose and is not an issue for some people

To build on this micro-usb has its pros as well. Mechanical advantages and not just bandwidth.

There is a disadvantage to reversible usb ports like USB-C and Lightening. They inevitably become very picky after any warping happens. This is because they have no hardware to anchor itself.

While a micro-usb only has 1-orientation to fit, and never disconnects easily. The other side is used to anchor it.

To imagine what I am talking about:

Look at the people getting into usb-dongle dacs!
There are lots of complaints online of them disconnecting very easily while on the go. That is entirely because those usb-c plugs they've been using for a few months have warped less than 1milimeter with some twist, and their plug is very picky about how they fit into their female ports.

With micro-usb the biggest concern was if a company cheapened out in soldering it. While with usb-c it is an inevitable failure. Ironically, failing UBS-C cables will become trash heap fillers.......quite unenviromental friendly aye?

Hugo2 has really old Bluetooth, does that make it count as a radio equipment?

You are correct. It only applies to radio equipment. The DAC is not radio equipment.

But the 2Go is and therefore it will require an update next year.

this is not exactly the case, the European directive describes exactly which devices where the USB-C port is mandatory and does not refer to all radio devices

I read the proposal and that's not what it says.

(6) The interoperability between radio equipment and accessories such as chargers is hampered
as there are different charging interfaces for certain categories or classes of radio equipment
that use wired charging such as handheld mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras,
headphones or headsets, handheld videogame consoles, portable speakers, e-readers,
keyboards, mice, portable navigation systems, earbuds and laptops.
"Such as" should mean that these are only meant as examples not as the conclusive list of devices covered by the directive.

https://data.consilium.europa.eu/doc/document/ST-10713-2022-INIT/x/pdf

Update: Just finished reading the document and the Annex actually specifies that the "such as" categories are the ones that are covered by the amended directive. They will review the categories though and might extend them in the future.
