MOONDROP X TANCHJIM X SHANLING collaboration - M3X Limited Edition

Maybe that depended on where they ordered from, did you order from hifigo? I believe that 500 were released into the international market, but by looking at the serial number it looks like there are 1000 within China. To me it looks like there are 1500 devices in total.

Isn't that a little misleading then? If that's the case, it should be stated along the lines of Limited Edition 1500, 1000 units for Chinese Market and 500 for international. Unless there is a posting about that number on a Chinese forum not posted here?

They did specify that it would be only 500 for the international market, but I understand why you think its misleading, I thought the same thing too. This thread is targeted to an international audience so I don't think it would be "beneficial" for them to include their own market as well. I didn't look for a Chinese forum, but I'm sure you could find it if you look for it.

I saw some posts of people who just received their M3X LE. Any explanation? I already have one preordered but could have waited for impressions if it's not as limited as stated.
Total production of M3X is 1500 units, out of which 500 units is released at international market at Shanling distributors.

Received mine yesterday. I believe i got the chinese unit(i’m in the state). It came with 2 acrylic earphone stands(?) and a 128gb micro sd card. Started up in chinese so i had to reconfigure it. Pairing it up with the starfields. I hope these are what tuned for.

P.S, whose briliant idea was it to have white fonts on white background?

Hi, I just received my Moondrop X Tanchjim M3X recently and I have a few questions.

1. Is it possible to "turn off" the special sound tuning, through a software option. I think it sounds great, but would like to use a wide variety of headphones/IEMs with the M3X

2. How exactly does the "sound tuning" affect headphones. Is it possible to get AP(audio precision) measurements to see these effects?

3. What IEMs were used in the development of the sound tuning? Which IEMs are the best match for the M3X?

This is my first post here, so please excuse me if this isn't allowed.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and have a good day!

There is no software tool affecting the sound. Change in sound between normal and M3X and Limited edition is on hardware side (mainly in different capacitors).
I'm not sure why you think this would limit use with different headphones?

Range of different earphones from both manufacturers were used during design process, no exact recommendation.

Thanks for the reply

I was not aware that there was hardware changes, but that is very interesting.

I don't worry of compatibility with different headphones, just how they may sound. Of course I have not been disappointed in the sound of the M3X yet!

It's good to know they tested with a wide range of earphones. The Blessing 2 my favourite to pair with the M3X so far!

There are 500 units for international market, divided among listed distributors.

There are small adjustments to the analog circuit, based on feedback form Moondrop X Tanchjim. So bit different sound tuning.

Yes, this is very far from our traditional look, but seems it's getting nice feedback from Moondrop and Tanchjim fans.

Around 430 USD, but it will differ depending on local taxes etc.

No idea, we were not in charge of the design.
What is the difference between international and local?

International - Numbers 1001 - 1500.

Domestic China - 0001 - 1000.And I believe some sellers adds these cheap plastic earphone stands. And of course, limited warranty.

if it wasn't for that backplate I woulda bought this seeing as though I live in japan even though I got the normal version. granted the silver finish on this looks nice.
I could just get a case to cover this i guess or just add a big sticker to hide the back.
