STAX COMBO Recent Arrived.. :L3000:

Nice! I see the T8000 draws 95 watts according to Stax despite being solid state.........the Carbon/Carbon CC don't pull nearly that much from the wall I don't think. I wonder why it needs that much power?

Hi friend, mind sharing some cents regarding these amps: Blue Hawaii BJT / Stax SRM-717 / Stax SRM-T1S / Topping EHA5? Thanks!

The T8000's owner's manual says " Power consumption: 95W/Max. 58W (without optional slot)". So it's only 95W if the add-in slot is populated and enabled, and Stax has never released anything for that slot (in the 8 years since it was released), so the point is moot. Also, the T8000 is a hybrid, it uses 6922 tubes for voltage gain with a solid-state output stage.

I've been vaguely interested in the T8000 for a bit; I know it's not the best use of money when the BHSE exists, but I've heard of people who like it more than the BHSE for the X9000 specifically. I know of another user here who uses the X9000 + T8000 combo with an Esoteric N-05XD streamer/DAC, and the idea of a high-end all-Japanese audio chain is one of those odd ideas I kick around in my head.

I pair x9000 with the TEAC UD-701, which is Esoteric's (the parent company) less-insanely-priced version of N-05XD. This pairing sounds best when using DSD (the real kind, the converted kind, the Audirvana kind...use what's available). Never been a blacker background:)

Over PCM, the x9000's thin and artificial soundstage, which people like Birgir and Padam note, is more noticeable.

It definitely would be A LOT easier to ship out T8000 boxes than building Blue Hawaii SE's! We do have T8000's in stock right now too!

HE6SE : Great headphone for the money with good bass and natural timbre but lacks the ultimate transparency

Stax SR009: Bright extremely revealing ,with amazing resolution but is fatiguing over longer listening sessions

Susvara : Very well balanced less forward than Stax SR009 with great timbre and bass.

Stax x9000 : This one is a bit strange , I don't know how to explain but its less forward than both 009 and the 007 . It has the same detail and transparency as the 009 but has a winder soundstage. Orchestras and vocals sounds a bit distant compared to 009 and 007. Still need more listening to proper evaluate .

Stax SR007 Mk2: This is litteraly an HE6 OG with improved resolution across the board . My favourite headphone

To sum it up I prefer overall the sound signature of Susvara and stax sr007Mk2 . I think overall I prefer the sr007 mk2 all over the headphones above.

Feerum Orr to power the suvara and the he6se ,as for the estats I use the Stax SRM-700S . DAC Topping D90

I wonder what you would think of a 4/6 screw OG HE6 since it looks like you used the special edition.

Wearing my 007mk2 right now, I really think you owe it to yourself to audition the Audeze CRBN, it shares many similarities to the 007mk2.

Also since you used a Stax amp many people will tell you that you haven't really heard an estat till you have heard it out of one of the KG amps.

The last phone on the table is a heavily modified he6se. I sold my 4 screw 2 years ago and I regret it to this day!

I changed the headband and the strap ,cable ,the outer mesh and fitted a new cable . I want to make it a bit premium

Very happy with what I currently have. I was thinking on purchasing the custom KGSSH Carbon ,though not sure how much improvement it will be over my 700S

As for the CRBN I've never heard one .

The CRBN does share some similarities with the 007. I think it gets tonality right a bit better than the 007, but doesn't have the same 3D and holographic sound the 007 can have (a bit short of the 009 in this regard, but better than the CRBN imo).

And yea the only knock against the x9000 is that it can be distant and relaxed positioning wise, being less forward than most stats. Still incredibly good, just depends on what you're looking for.

Based of your taste in bassy hifiman it might just be the perfect estat for you.

As for the amp if you are using the 700S I believe that is basically a newer version of the 717, my Blue Hawaii gets much louder and even the "Stax farts" sound different. The Blue Hawaii is an improvement for sure, but the law of diminishing returns and all.
