  1. Sennheiser HD 600

Check out my Video Review for the Sennheiser HD 600!      Well guys I want to say I finally did it! I broke down, and purchased a Sennheiser HD 600. After hearing about it for YEARS I just had to hear it for my self, and I'm rather glad I did!  Though it should be noted, my HD 600ish is technically... an HD 580 headband, HD 650 Grills and Cable with HD 600 drivers within. So in a sense, it's bit of a FrankenPhone. But it's got the  HD 600 internals so a HD 600 it shall be! The build quality on the unit is very nice! It has a good in...

A big thanks to Drew and every one at Moon Audio, they handled the sale of this new unit to me and were very helpful in answering all of my questions!      Preface Ever since my Hifiman HM 601 back in 2012 I've always loved the Hifiman Sound. The deep bass, the smooth mids and that spacious presentation. Ideally for me I thought the Hm 801 was going be the end all Hifiman DAP for me. How ever I was seeing that the unit did not age as well as I was...

Alessandro Music Series MS1i Black Walnut Cups $169 Big thanks to JoeDoe of Head-Fi as he performed the cup installation as well as the swapping out the headband.  I paid a little more for mine due to the lovely Walnut Cups, price for a Stock Alessandro MS1i is $109        Now the headphones themselves have been outfitted with an Auvio Headband. Which offers a slightly more durability than the stock Grado Headband.     It has a nice construction, very light weight has a good feel in the hand. It also have a comfortable head band and a...
  4. HeadRoom Little With More Power Supply

    4.50 star(s)
I got this amp through a trade recently,  it is the HeadRoom Little Amp With More Power Supply. This is about a decade old amp, so I figured why not send it through the paces versus my big Fully balanced Audio GD?    I got this amp through a trade recently   I'm running the HeadRoom Little Amp With More Power Supply through my Audio GDs DAC Line out, set to high gain, as on low gain Line out the HeadRoom Little Amp With More Power Supply doesn't have enough grunt.    For headphones I am using my HE-4, with a SE to Balanced inter...

Review LCD 2 Rev 2.2 Fazor   Big thanks to head fi member jodgey4 for allowing me the chance to demo the LCD 2.2F!      To start with the comfort of the LCD 2 with Vegan Pads was very good! The headband and ePads distributed the weight of the headphones very nicely, despite rumors of the Audeze cans being "too heavy to wear" I found them to very comfortable and the weight didn't bother me. Of course, some of you may be more sensitive to weight than I am.   As far as the sound goes, the overall profile of the LCD 2 REV 2.2 Fazor    Was...
  6. HiFiMAN HE-4

    5.00 star(s)
To start with, I've owned my Hifiman HE 4 for a few months now, and I've just recently heavily modified mine! The positives is all these mods don't do anything for the sound, but rather improve the looks comfort and usability of the headphone.    Let's start with some Specs Impedance 38 ohms Sensitivity 86 db Frequency 10-60k Weight- 370g Cable - Balanced 4 Pin Neutrick XLR   Well seeing as the HE 4 is my new standard, I won't be doing any comparisons here, rather simply commenting on what I enjoy about it! Let's put some words to describe...
  7. FiiO X5 High-res Portable Music Player

    4.00 star(s)
I would like to first send tanks to Fiio and Head Fi member Joe Blogs for giving me the opportunity to preview the Fiio X5, I am not affiliated with Fiio in any way.   For the purpose of this review I demo'd the X5 with my Balanced Modded Denon AH MD 2000 Headphones and my iBasso PB2 Balanced Amplifier, equipped with quad LME 49990 OP amps and dummy buffers. In addition also compared the X5 again'st my Hifiman HM801, using the same music and amplification.   Price for the X5 is said to be $350.        Here's the X5 sitting...

Schiit Audio - Vali )[$119 New]  VS Audio GD NFB10 ES2 Balanced Amp (SE Out) [$600 New (Unit is a Dac/Amp Combo)   Personal Back-Story     I’ve enjoyed both Tube and solid state amplifiers over the years, although I prefer solid states. That said, there’s still something magical about tubes for me, thus I owned two before the Vali, both where attempts to find that perfect tube sound, the right mix of warm mids and taught bass and airy treble. That said, I got the Vali, with hopes it would bring the balanced I was looking for. That said, though...

Audio Technica  ATH AD900X {$180 Used} {$299 New}   Personal Back-Story     I recently emailed Mr. Doris a Public relations professional with Audio- Technica U.S., INC. I would first of all like to thank him for allowing me to do this review as well as for his great communication with me! Non the less, I’ve been doing reviews for about a year now and wanted to apply my trade toward a great cause and do a more professional review.  So I emailed Mr. Dorris to see if I could do a review for Audio-Technica U.S and he graciously agreed. My interest...

    5.00 star(s)
Sound Magic HP 100 ($165 Used)     Personal Back-Story     In the search for a can with the dt 880 sound and the isolation of a closed headphone I came across the sound magic hp 100!   Pros: Comfort, isolation, carrying case, detachable cord, clean sound, wonderful sound stage   Cons : lack of lower mids and upper bass [easily fixed by the w1000x Pads], also needs to be modified for bass improvement   Build [5/5]     Specs Closed operating principle Driver: Dynamic 53mm Neodymium Drivers - Frequency range: 10Hz~30KHz - Impedance...
  11. Audio Poutine ODAC

    5.00 star(s)
A quick review here as I have nothing really to compare it to, but we all know the oDac sound clean and slighty EVER SO SLIGHTY mellow. Very linear and great with deatails, without ever being harsh or bright, mainly the biggest differeance here is the Audio Poutine oDac can be customized a little more than other sellers. Mine came with Silver Face plates and got a RCA and 3.5mm Out, and i've used it for about 7 months now. It's a great DAC and well worth the price!
  12. Beyer Dynamic DT 880 Premium 600 OHM Headphones

    5.00 star(s)
Beyerdynamic DT 880 Premium 600ohm (With ZXAC Fully Balanced Recable) [$235 Used]   Personal Back-Story     I recently re-purchased my Beyerydanmic Dt 880’s back! And this time I made the upgrade to the 600 ohm variant.     Pros: Airy sound, delicate mids, speed, sense of openness, sound stage and layering. Timbre   Cons : no isolation,  bright [I like bright cans but some don’t] lacks intimacy, bass for some may not be heavy enough   Build [5/5]   Classic Beyerdynamic Build quality, although these are a tad more fragile than my...

Ath A900x [$93 used]   Test Process   Source Win 7[Foobar2000 WASAPI] -> oDac -> MonoPrice Premium Coaxial Cables -> Matrix M Stage [0  [w1000x Akg K550/+18 db Gain Lme 49990 OpAmp]   Will be enjoyed at face, no comparisons to be made considering the price.   As always gain and volume are adjusted for each headphone. [To ensure each has equal volume levels, despite gain.]   7/9 Songs are without EQ, Benga-Invasion and Kidnap Kid-Animaux  do feature an EQ added by me. This should demonstrate the ability of a headphone to...

AKG K550 [Price $160 Used]   Test Process   Source Win 7[Foobar2000 WASAPI] -> oDac -> MonoPrice Premium Coaxial Cables -> Matrix M Stage [0  [w1000x Akg K550/+18 db Gain Lme 49990 OpAmp]   Will be compared again'st my w1000x and my Beyer Dt 990, since I intend to use this headphone as a portable, with all genres. I want to see how it does against my two "specialists" Specifically, the Dt 990 will be compared only with Classical and EDM [I got lazy and only did classical and Dub Step] genres. Songs 2 and 7.   As always gain...

Beyerdyanmic Dt 990 Pro 250 ohm [Price $190 New]   Source Win 7[Foobar2000 WASAPI] -> oDac -> MonoPrice Premium Coaxial Cables -> Matrix M Stage [0 /+18 db Gain Lme 49990 OpAmp]   The Beyer Can, having a higher impedance reaches it's optimal sound at 18 gain, volume is adjust accordingly   Compared against modified Audio Technica w1000x [Stock $350 Refurbished-After mods $500]    8/9 Songs are without EQ, Benga-Invasion does feature an EQ by my self. This should demonstrate the ability of a headphone to handle EQ.   My...
  16. MDR-ZX100 Headphone - Stereo - Black - Mini-phone

    4.00 star(s)
I can see why so many people have these, ease of accesses. A very familiar sound signature and an inviting sound to most common music lovers!   Again, for the price it's not a terrible headphone. It's also very generic. Sounds like every boring stock Car Stereo you've all listened to growing up!    For the price and the looks it's not a bad can! [This is for the Sony MDR ZX300]

Koss Pro DJ 200   Tested with   Hifiman Hm 601 Line out JDS Labs cMoy BB 2.03 2x9V   Songs Tested    Hiroki Kikuta         The Legend 16bit loss-less         The Divine Invasion 16bit Loss-less   I really enjoy these songs for their dynamic energy and range of instruments and tonal variety! Both are very difficult songs to reproduce well, as the instrumental variation can be hard to balance for some equipment.     Compared To   Byerdynamic Dt 880 250 Ohms   Build Build quality is sub par, seems like basic...
  19. Apple iPod Nano (3rd Generation), 4GB, Grey, Old Model

    4.00 star(s)
There is only one thing to be said about my little iPod 3'd Gen... I use it for Video Lectures and Audio Books, it's a tough little piece of tech and it's lasted me a long time [since I got it used]   I do enjoy it, the user interface is very simple and straight forward. The play back quality is more than sufficent and when I had music on my iPod... I enjoyed the eq setting and my biggest issue was at loud volumes everything was very harsh [My Zune HD is just as loud and is not by any means harsh]   Still great little piece of tech! Very...
  20. Fiio E6 Headphone Amplifier

    4.00 star(s)
A great buy, very affordable and the bass boost is noticeable but doesn't muddy the sound at all. Has "High Gain" Eq Mode, which is great for those High Contrast songs you forgot to delete off your Source. Looks nice and is very portable.
