FiiO K5 || FiiO's docking desktop amp
Oh no, it definitely fulfills a need. I had the previous dock, but my needs are different. I have no doubt it's a great product. I am very pleased at the land scape of quality audio products available to us as opposed to when I was growing up. Furthermore, the cost seems to be much less than...- mtliu

Superlux Express Train
There's something familiar about the way the 687s look. . .I gotten over my GAS and stopped buying head gear lol. They look like another pair of Superlux I've had as well as a bunch of the generic cans I seen at discount stores. I almost want to try these out. . .but should stop now that I've...- mtliu

FiiO K5 || FiiO's docking desktop amp
It wasn't a complaint at all, but just a description of what I did. But, interesting that you should interpret it that way when it's not that way at all. LOL. Glad that you like the dock.- mtliu

FiiO K5 || FiiO's docking desktop amp
Wow, is this thread still going? I loved my E17K so much I bought 2. The dock took too long to come out and I ended up going with a dongle solution that cost less, sounds better, is smaller than the E17K (about the size of a pack of Juicy Fruit), and is more transportable. I still have my two...- mtliu

Superlux HD668B are they really that good or just a cheap copycat???
It's been a while since I thought about Superlux cans and was only reminded of them when the thread popped up in an e-mail summary. In retrospect, I can say that these cans are awesome value for the money, but are easily bested when moving up to $150 price tier. Granted, most of the Superlux...- mtliu

Phone w/ only USB-C out works with Apogee Groove or FiiO E17K
I wasn't sure where to put this thread since it involves a phone, portable DACs, and my 1more Triple-Driver IEMs. I bought a no-name brand phone that only has USB-C out on it. It came with a dongle to allow using the standard 1/8" audio out, but it sounds pretty anemic. The phone was designed...- mtliu

Android phones and USB DACs
I just bought a phone with only a USB-C port on it. I already own quite a few DACs. Waiting for it to arrive so I can play around. If things go as I think, I'll be able be able to use my DACs to listen to music. They did work with a previous phone, but they sucked the battery life out of them...- mtliu

Apogee Groove Dac / Headphone Amp
I've seen this solution on Youtube, and it works. It most ceertainly voids the warranty. I've also hooked to Groove directly to my Moto X 2104 with an OTG cable - and it also works - it just sucks the battery 3x faster. I've since switched phones (and carriers), but haven't tried it on my new phone.- mtliu

Skullcandy Aviator appreciation
These are my favorite on-ears for under $100. They are uncharacteristic for the Skull Candy sound - which I am not a fan of. They also allow ambient noise to be heard. But this isn't why I'm posting. I'm always getting compliments about these cans but was horrified to find a $10 knock off from...- mtliu

Superlux Express Train
I've found out that my ATH-m70x and Sennhesier Amperior sound better than any of the 5 Superlux models I've owned. Granted you can buy 9 pairs of Superlux for the price of the AT and 5 pairs of Superlux for the price of the Amperiors. Even though the price of the AT are 9x more than Superlux...- mtliu

Use of FiiO E07k vs E10k?
You are correct! It is the E17K and E10K that share the same DAC chip.- mtliu

V-MODA XS - V-MODA M-80s upgraded - Pictures and more! [Discussion, Questions] #FirstthreadtocoverXS
The M-100 fit me better than the XS, but I prefer the XS sound much more over the M-100. The M-100 is too V-shaped for my tastes. I'd like the sound of the XS and the fit of the M-100, but it's not available.- mtliu

V-MODA XS - V-MODA M-80s upgraded - Pictures and more! [Discussion, Questions] #FirstthreadtocoverXS
These cans can be somewhat formed to the shape of your head. The metal bar is meant to be contorted until the gap between your head and cans is minimized. There is a specific way to do this, since it take a lot of force and doing the wrong way will break them. The lack of rotation about the...- mtliu

V-MODA XS - V-MODA M-80s upgraded - Pictures and more! [Discussion, Questions] #FirstthreadtocoverXS
As far as performance, both are probably very similar in terms of sound. The E07K has more features which the K1 lacks: internal battery, ability to use as an amp alone, treble/bass/volume/gain settings, as well as digital display. The E07K also has the ability to dock with the E09K and bring it...- mtliu
