Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
Has anyone ever done a tear down of the Z1R? I was wondering if it's possible to remove the cup grills for modding. Update: Nvm, I found the service manual online. Link is here, in case you need it: https://static-pt.com/modelManual/SONY-MDRZ1R_sm.pdf- Quasimodosbelfry

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
I have the 1A and I got the batt replaced in Dec '23. I happened to still know the guy from Music Sanctuary (Singapore), which carried out the initial K-Mod all those years ago, and he obliged. Sony still carries the parts and he ordered a batt off them (handed me the receipt from Sony) then...- Quasimodosbelfry

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
Been almost 2 years since I put them away on account of the disintegrating headband and pads. But now that they're "restored", some quick impressions against my regular Sony MDR-Z1R : The Nighthawks just don't reach as deep in the bass and the sound can be a little anemic by comparison...- Quasimodosbelfry

SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2
VanNuys cases are cool in that they can connect to other accessories. Here it's connected to a back panel, with another padded pouch for IEMs. This whole thing hangs by my bed for convenient in-bed listening.- Quasimodosbelfry

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
I finally disassembled the headstrap and it was a LOT easier than I thought. This part below is made from a slightly rubbery material, and flexes easily for the t-shaped retention pins to pop off with a twist. Then I puzzled over how to use the Hifiman headband... And it occurred to me to be...- Quasimodosbelfry

Just found out my WM1AM2 has a microphone. And an accelerometer. Like, why? Is this because Sony used some components from their Android phones? Didn't they build these DAPs from the ground up? Has anyone else found a use for these as they pertain to the Walkman?- Quasimodosbelfry

Quick and easy project. Trimmed up the foam a little more so there's less pressure on the earpads. Then picked up some red satin and replaced the black stock one. I think it looks gorgeous. OK, I'm done now. 😄- Quasimodosbelfry

Yeahhh... that's not really how magnets work. The magnet in the stand is strong enough to hold your hardware but the strength of the field drops off within a few mm from the surface. I don't think there's enough mf radiation to generate any current in a static object, even if it's copper. The...- Quasimodosbelfry
