Apple exec personally can’t hear the difference in lossless audio but Apple Music supports it for the “small set of customers” who want it https://9to5mac.com/2021/06/08/eddy-cue-talks-apple-music-spatial-audio-addresses-lossless-audio-debate-in-interview/

    AirPods Max

Future AirPods update may enable Lossless audio via AirPlay From the article: The rumor: Streaming audio to AirPods will get a major update in the future, according to Jon Prosser (77.8% accurate) on the Genius Bar podcast. While Bluetooth is too technically limited to support lossless audio...

    AirPods Max

This is why "audiophile" is a joke term among my audio engineering collegues at work. It is not biologically possible for us (unless one is an alien) to hear above 22kHz. 44.1kHz is enough to record in perfect fidelity. For strictly listening purposes, 192kHz/24bit is wasteful, just extreme...

    AirPods Max

The AirPods Max doesn’t come with a lightning to a headphone hack connector in the box. Apple clearly doesn’t want you to use this product unless it’s wireless. The fact that it cannot play Hi-Res Lossness doesn’t surprise me. I just think the Apple Music department messed up. They shouldn’t...

    AirPods Max

The Airpods Max is just as detailed as my Hifiman Sundara while at the same time being Wireless, ANC headphones. I feel like audiophiles who discredit the Max aren’t looking at the big picture. An open back audiophile headphone is useless the moment there are others living with you or when you...

    AirPods Max

Why did Apple apply such a big boost in the upper treble on the AirPods Max? The cheaper AirPods Pro sounds more nautral with an audiophile tuning in the treble, which is crazy because the AirPods Max is MUCH more expensive. Sure, the AirPods Max sounds "clearer" but that comes with a cost. The...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

The DT880 are good entry level headphones but they are in the same tier as the ATH M50X and beyerdynamic's own DT 770/DT990. The Drop exclusive Sennheiser HD58X has better treble, mids, and bass resolution. There's no reason to buy the DT880 anymore. Well, it’s still a suitable headphone for...

Sennheiser IE900 Review, Measurements, & Harman Target Talk

Why not just buy convenient wireless earbuds like the AirPods Pro’s, Sony WF-1000XM3 or the Jabra Elite 75T? I never understood why audiophiles brought expensive IEM’s and portable DAC/AMP, that cost in the $1000+ range, for commuting and just being outside their home. I don’t want to come...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

https://en-us.sennheiser.com/audiophile-range?order_by=created_at-desc https://en-us.sennheiser.com/audiophile-range?order_by=created_at-desc&page=2 The HD 660S S and the HD650 are both listed as $499 on Sennheiser’s website. Is Sennheiser finally admitting that the 660 S and 650 are in the...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I bought the HifiMan Sundara looking for an upgrade over the 6XX but the 6XX sounds overall better to me. the Sundara has clearer bass och treble but the midrange sounds unnatural. That's crazy. The 650 is like 15 years old and the Sundara is bleedig edge planar technology. They shouldn't trade...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Interesting, what's your definition of graininess? To me, grainy = lack of refinement and harsh. What's your definition? Imo, 650 isn't grainy, it's simply rolled off and you need more volume to bring the highs up.
