Comparison between OPPO HA-2SE and AK Junior sound coupled with Sennheiser HD650
Hey there, guys and gals. I recently purchased an AK Junior along with a pair of Sennheiser HD650s. The pairing seems great to my ears, much better than my previous iPod Video 5.5. I've been looking into an OPPO HA-2SE as well, to add to the mix. My questions here are in regards to...- starfirepro

Best Computer Audio Player Software?
I checked it out online - the website of the dev is very weird, English mixed with Japanese and all that. [Removed by Mod] This is the website of the player: http://oryaaaaa.world.coocan.jp/bughead/ For some weird reason, the application requires that you have a CPU that supports AVX...- starfirepro

Best Computer Audio Player Software?
I myself have always used Foobar, ever since Winamp was discontinued. By the time I was using Winamp I didn't really care about sound fidelity and bit-perfect sound, though - never heard of Bughead Emperor before. Can anyone outline the main differences and advantages of BHE over Foobar ( if...- starfirepro

Are you a console or PC gamer?
My point is consoles shouldn't really exist in the first place, since they are useless compared to PCs. If they didn't, there would be no licensing issues. My username is actually something quite random I came up with - there is a spell called "Starfire" in World of Warcraft :D- starfirepro

Are you a console or PC gamer?
PC Master race here all the way! Always been a PC games, I tried to like consoles, even bought a PS3 a few years ago, and I sold it shortly after that. Just doesn't do it for me. Consoles, in my opinion, are a waste of money. Everything you can do with a console, you can do on a PC, a...- starfirepro

Closed back alternative to HD 600, for mixing.
How is a closed back headphone supposed to sound like HD600? I personally haven't heard them, but from what I've read about them, they are one of the most open headphones out there. You cannot emulate the soundstage of such an open headphone into a closed back one - not that I'm an expert in the...- starfirepro

The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread
580s were my very first introduction to the world of Sennheiser. I had almost no clue about sound fidelity and no clear concept of hi-end sound, but I had read great stuff about them and decided to order pair off eBay for 155 USD. I had them for about 2 or 3 years before I moved on to HD650 but...- starfirepro

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
I'm definitely interested in seeing that response graph too. I'm usually not a Sony fan when it comes to audio, but I read quite a lot about this specific model and I'm eager to see how it performs from a technical standpoint.- starfirepro

Ibasso DX90 - which headphones do you prefer to use with DX90?
Been hearing marvelous things about this little toy lately. Definitely planning to get one in the next 6 months or so - is it fully able to drive Sennheiser HD650 or HD800 properly? I would suppose so, but I had to ask nonetheless. Has anyone tried it with one of those phones? Impressions...- starfirepro

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR
Just a quick question on the Titanium HD on behalf of a friend of mine - if he uses the optical out of the sound card to his external dac audio-gd NFB-12, does it still use the card dac to process the sound? Or do he have to connect to the RCA outs in order to use the sound card's DAC? ...- starfirepro

The Entry Level Stax Thread
I see - yeah, that's what I figured, but I had to ask. Thank you - I'm used to open headphones, and since I am also accustomed to relatively high listening levels, I don't usually let the outside noises bother me too much - I just block them out mentally, I guess. So that shouldn't be too much...- starfirepro

The Entry Level Stax Thread
I've only been reading about Stax models so far, never had the opportunity to try one out for myself, but I'd love to. Never tried an electrostatic headphone, so I gotta ask: Are there any electrostatic PORTABLE headphone amps out there, that could power a Stax while on-the-go? Main...- starfirepro

Can you hear a difference between MP3 and lossless?
Very good one indeed. I myself have tried differentiating between 320 kbps LAME mp3s and FLAC on numerous occasions to no avail, basically. Either the music that I generally listen to isn't that sensitive to tiny losses in the stream, or I just can't hear them, really. I do think that's...- starfirepro

Best audiophile metal and rock albums
I'd say Meshuggah's Koloss and The Violent Sleep of Reason are exceptional recordings sound-wise. Check them out on hi-end gear if you're into the band or a similar style. They crush!- starfirepro
